Remarkable Results!!! and it only took two weeks to do it

Recommended Posts

Hey all...

y name is Dana ( female, civil engineer from Kuwait) and I just got banded 2 weeks ago .. I have some queries to share with ya all

Within two weeks, i have lost 22 lbs!! is this within the normal range or not?

For the past couple of days and through my liquid diet, i have been experiencing some difficulties in swallowing ( as if popcorn bits are stuck in my throat). What's the reason for that and is it normal to have such condition because of the liquid diet?

I would love to get replies from ya all to share with me my experience. I am counting on others who have gone through all that to accompany me in my journey.

Best Regards,

Dana

Hi Dana,

I hope you don't mind, I edited out the extraneous code in your post that was making it impossible to read.

Congratulations on your banding and on losing 22 lbs! That's a lot to lose in the first two weeks, but on a liquid diet it's certainly possible. Just be prepared that when you go back on solid food this weight loss will STOP, and you might even put back on a few pounds. IT'S NORMAL, and your loss will start up again--albeit at a MUCH slower pace--as your body adjusts.

I don't know about the difficulty swallowing. The feeling may pass, but as with anything unusual if it doesn't go away, talk to your doctor.

Welcome to LBT!!

22lbs is GREAT...I had the same loss I believe!?!? Been a while so have forgotten.....I actually prayed that if I lost it that GOd would keep it off!!! HE did!!! I stay the same or lose so far!!! I am praying you do the same!!!

The stuck feeling I had I think it was swelling from the band and having a tube down our throat while we were sleeping?! If it continues definitely call your doctor!!!!

CONGRATS!!!

God bless,

Melody

Banded 3/20/06 -88lbs

I don't think you're in any danger. Somewhere around here, there's a poll about how much weight people lost before their first fill. If you find that post, I think you'll find that you're pretty normal.

Those two lbs gain gave me a push towards exercising to lose more lbs and shed the forever.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

I wanna know how can I be an active member in this forum and educate my self and others more on my life after being banded.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

Once again I thank you for your kind reply.. This is really a GREAT Forum to join and be part of. :clap2:

Dear Melody,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

This is a weird coincidence, cus I also prayed to god that if I lost these lbs I never get them back!!!! I think I have to wait some time to see if my prayers are gunna be answered :P

<o:p></o:p>

and yes, the swallowing difficulty was because of the tube they passed in my throat!!!! Guys this forum is AMAZING cuz you know almost everything about my condition and you are giving me the exact same replies as my Dr.s' :clap2: <o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

Appreciating your reply melody and God Bless you all.<o:p></o:p>

Best Regards,

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
