I felt the exact same way but was met with a very positive reaction. She was happy I was taking a big step to get my weight and health in general under control. I went into the appointment armed with lots of research and confident I was making the right decision for me, and in the end that is what is most important. Good Luck!!

I know how you feel!!! My first appointment is next week and I'm hoping my doctor agrees with my decision to be sleeved instead of the bypass. In the seminar, he discounted the lapband and essentially useless now (too many problems), said he's done thousands of bypasses (which he has) and said that the sleeve has not been tested for 40 years like the bypass has but is a viable option. But, in my opinion, it's been tested enough. There are people on this site who are going on five or more years and seem to love it. Good for you for knowing what you want. Fingers crossed that I don't chicken out next week. :)

Yea I heard the bypass is not the best thing to get I done alot of research and people that got sleeved up have been giving good feedback on it ..and yes thers been alot of problems with the lapband because it can pop out of position and they do not do surgery again to fix it..but good luck to you thers nothing to be scared about

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
