Not Losing Any Weight! Upset And Fustrated!

Recommended Posts

thank you everyone for the nice words and support i just didn't know what to expect?? but as i get familar with this site and read other peoples experiences i am starting to learn that i am going at a good pace and that i am doing the correct thing (i hope..lol) i am just going by what i was told at my dr's office and on my next appointment i will let them know that they shouldn't say that if it can vary on the person and weight.

i think that sometimes i don't get enough Protein or not enough fluids (water) and that maybe that is the reason why i don't lose the weight but now that i have heard and read all these stories i am pretty confident that i am doing good.

thank you everyone :D

Everyone has already given you great advice. I just want to advise you to mentally prepare for stalls and possible slight gains from time to time on this journey. I started at 406 lbs so I had over 200 lbs to lose. I lost 35 in the first month so 40 would have been so unrealistic for you. After my first month, I didn't lose anything else for an entire month. Was I crazy? Yes!! About to lose my mind! But reading that it has happened to others who were very successful sleevers was very reassuring. I am now 8 months out and down almost 110!

I had surgery in January and didn't lose weight in February or July. I pretty much just bounced around during these months. Did I lose inches? Yes! Did I go down a pant size? You bet! They'll happen; just stay the course and enjoy the ride. Good luck to you!

I GOT SLEEVED ON AUGUST 24' date=' 2012 AND SINCE THEN I HAVE ONLY LOST 25LBS. I WEIGHED MYSELF YESTERDAY AND HAVE NOT LOST ONE POUND.. NOT SURE WHAT I AM DOING WRONG I AM NOT EATING THE WRONG THINGS, DRINKING ALL MY Protein AND DRINKING LOTS AND LOTS OF Water. ITS MAKING ME SO FUSTRATED BECAUSE I REALLY THOUGHT THAT THE OUTCOME THE FIRST MONTH WAS GOING TO BE DRASTIC AND I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO LOSE MORE THAN 40 POUNDS THE FIRST MONTH AND I AM STILL IN THE 250s AND NOT FEELING GOOD AT ALL...DOES HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS ME ????[/quote']

You lost 25 pounds in 25 days that is awesome! You are probably just having the stall I have read so much about.I would just keep doing what you are supposed to do and you will start losing again:) Cheer up this is a win so far!

That's pretty awesome! I only lost 26# my first month. I am 5 1/2 months out and down 99#. It will come! Remember...it didn't take over night or even 1 month to put on weight...it will take some time. It sounds as if you are doing the things you need to do. Keep up the great work!

Sweetie look at the positive. You lost 25 lbs and didn't gain it back! That alone is a victory for most of us!!!

You've lost 25 pounds in 4 weeks....you should be celebrating. Expecting to lose 40 pounds in a month is unrealistic.

There is a link in my sig to an article about stalls. You should read it.

Try your best to only weigh yourself every 30 days and do your measurements. The measurements are the best way to consider if your losing weight. As you lose the unwanted weight your going to be more active and start to gain muscle. Muscle does weight 2.5 x what fat weighs.but your inches will drop showing and proving to you this is still working. Never to feel disappointed when your inches are dropping and your going into a smaller pant size even if your weight is steady. Your gaining muscle finally in your life again. This is huge and very positive. It's the best that can happen for you. This means your body is working like it should be and the little factory inside is back and producing. Than your body will go back searching to locate the unwanted body fat and converting it into energy for what your new body is requesting everyday.remember Protein and Water are the most important. Get it all in.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
