Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

Recommended Posts

Down 31 lbs (20 pre and 11 post op) Surgery was 9/6. Everything went great. Pain kept under control and walked alot in hospital 2 days. Following my rules and finally eating eggs, chunky Soups, etc. No problems except finding a Protein Shake I like, so far EAS and Muscle Milk latte win... Got an awful stiff neck 10 days out and couldn't even do my walking so behind on that but two chiro appts and lots of hot/cold packs getting better. It should have worked my waist since I had to turn from the waist to look one way or the other lol!

Love this site, we ARE ALL SO AWESOME!

Is anyone else having trouble getting their Protein and Water in still? I'm 19 days out and I still can't seem to do both. If I drink enough, there is no room for the protein and if I take the protein, I can't drink enough water. Sort of a catch-22 when I'm trying to be so good! On the plus side, I did walk for 2 miles today!

I am on stage 2 full liquids.< /p>

Morning 8 oz of Protein Shake

lunch about 1/4 cup Greek yogurt

a little Soup

dinner 1/4 cup cottage cheese

And a Jello

And sips of Water all day long.

I still can't get down a whole jello or pudding. the 1/4 cup yogurt would be all I could handle for lunch, I guess everyone heals differently. My surgeon said my esophagus was very swollen, I have no idea what that means but apparently it is slowing down my recovery.

I'd like to ask everyone a question here - has anyone regretted their decision of the sleeve since surgery????

Sent from my iPhone using VST

Only when I get really hungry and my skinnie Minnie sleeve says it's full after 1/4 cup of Soup. But really, no. I don't regret it - this stage will pass and eventually I willl get myself straightened out and eating enough Protein.< /p>

Yes I'm have'n those days as well - I'm having this stuck feeling when I ate & I don't like that - I want that gone ASAP... I did 1/2 a banana earlier & put a little Peanut Butter on it - but every thing I eat sits there a 2nd & then goes down & I hate that feeling... Ugh I think I could have stuck to 1200 calories & exercised & loss slowly but surely but who knows what's done is done & ig if my side still didnt hurt & we didn't have to eat & drink @ a snails pace it would be easier... Adaption to this is a lil difficult & whoever said this is the easy route I would tell them depending on your experience its not..

I don't regret it biter I admit that I'm jealous of my family who eats good food.< /p>

I too can drink a lot more

Ready- perhaps you really need to concentrate on liquids- clear until u get your 64 in and let your tummy heal and swollenness go down. I do not have those symptoms- never have. Never puked and don't intend to. Xxxxz

Hi everyone- I'm 6 days out from surgery, last night during all the food commercials I just wanted to chew on something. Even thought about chewing something and than spitting it out. Behaved myself. Pizza- used to be a almost daily occurence in our house, lol. Somewhere I read to take Tomato Soup, add italian spice and a little cheese to get your italian fix, guess if you want a little mexican you could add that seasoning instead. Not yet ready for that, hopefully next week. I found

Propel Zero Water while on the preop diet and it has B Vitamins in it So have been doing that as my water. Sip all day. the Kiwi strawberry and Canberry Lime are my favorites. So far things have been okay, but have had all the "normal" stuff- headache, coldness (sleeping under 4 blankets), spasm pain if I take too big of drink, Still taking the liquid pain med but for my bad knee and back which is one of the reasons for the surgery, It's great reading everyone's post and knowing that you are not the only one with these feelings.

Okay somebody please tell me how you are getting in all this Protein. I am afraid that all of my hair is going to fall out. I think that I got in 20 grams today. What are you doing to get it in? I am a week out. I am also not getting in the Water. When I drink something I can feel it and I can also feel a slight pain in my stomach. I don't know what to do. It seems like everyone is doing so good. PLEASE HELP. I bought the Isopure Zero Carb and it makes me gag.. I have the nectar that is what I drank today and it took me about 2 hrs to get it down. I don't want to get dehydrated and I don't think that I have been to the bathroom more than once today. I know that this is not good. I think that the doc made my sleeve to small because I can go the whole day and not want to eat or drink anything which is not healthy. I go to my 2 week app next week. Maybe i should call the doc or NUT tomorrow.

I drink EAS Protein Powder mixed with fat free lactaid, 26 grams of protein in a scoop of EAS and 8 grams in the lactaid so I get 68 grams of protein in 2 shakes plus I have a yogurt for lunch with another 5 grams.

I can't seem to drink enough water so I have 4-5 sugar free Popsicles a day which count as water.

Ready- you and I seem to be the only ones not healing well. I went to urgent care yesterday because my incisions are red, swollen and itch like hell. I was given an antibiotic to prevent infection but I wasn't able to keep it down. My doctor moved my 2 week appointment up from Friday to Wednesday so he can see what's going on.

Try eating sugar free Popsicles since you can't get enough Water down, they count as water too!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
