Can anyone tell me the difference between wontons and Pasta. I have seen some very yummy recipes using wontons instead of pasta. Are they a form of bread?

Good question! I'm wondering too.

Apparently wonton wrappers are very thin (not like the thick ones used in wonton soup) and used to stuff whatever Protein in and cook it. You put the little wrapped mixture in cupcake tins and make it. I went searching and found out they have them at Whole Foods near me. The website "Emily Bites" has some recipes using them.

they're made out of flour, salt, egg & Water.

they don't have any yeast in them, so they don't puff up.. not bread..

they are like Pasta, but can be fried, baked, steamed, boiled or whatever. :)

Then if they are Pasta why can't we eat Pasta? I'm so confused!!

Just my thoughts here. The Protein to carb ratio in a wonton is typically more sleeve friendly. A thin wonton wrapper stuffed with Protein should fill you and you get a good amount of protein. A bowl of pasta is typically mostly carbs so you will fill up on that before you get in your protein requirements.

Tracey, I like your explanation...that really does make sense. So does the not having yeast.

I'm off to find some wonton wrappers...

There are a ton of things to make with these and they are really good!!! As far as making them in muffin pans, I would go with the regular muffin pan vs. the mini-muffin pan because then you will eat more of the Protein than the won tons.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
