I Need This And People Say I Dont?

Recommended Posts

I went to nutrition class today and looked around ... I am alot smaller than most of the people in there , makes me second guess myself . I am 5'4 and weigh 223 BMI 36 , i also have diabetes type two newly diagnosed .. I need this ! But i still wrestle with feelings like am i doing the right thing ? I know I am . I have been over or close to 200 pounds my entire adult life , I'm sick of living life sitting on the sidelines

Congratulations on deciding to do this when you're young! I'm 51 and have struggled with my weight my whole life. I would lose and then each time gain it back. I can't imagine how different my life might have been if I was not obese most of the time. After I lost weight once my son who was about 14 at the time admitted he had been embarrassed by me and that broke my heart. People who have never been overweight can't even begin to imagine how hard it is to always struggle. I'm looking forward to my surgery and being able to buy pretty mother of the bride/groom dresses when the time comes and to be able to be active with my future grandchildren. Good luck!

This is why I didn't want to tell anyone at work. I only told my family that knows my struggle and my fiancé. It's sad because my fiancé says I don't need it. I am 5'4 and 244

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
