Hello :)

Has anyone has Dr Fuller out of Scripps Green Hospital in San Diego? My surgery is Sept 14th, just a few days away and was wondering who else may have had him and what was your experience!

Hi, CMHandinSD! I had my sleeve done on 9/11 by Dr. Horgan at UCSD. When you feel up to it it would be nice to talk to a local sleever! I just started full liquids today but am struggling a bit with getting enough liquids in. I also still have a lot of pain around my largest incision, although its getting better every day!

I'm also local to San Diego but used Dr Jacobsen at UCSD. I had a good experience and was sleeved Sept 4th. On puréed food now. Yay.

Well, I'm a little late in commenting on this thread, but I had Dr. Takata, Dr Fuller's associate and was sleeved on Aug 22. I have been seeing Dr. Lee, the endocrinologist with Scripps Weight Loss Management group for some time and he spoke very highly of both surgeons. I thought the care at Scripps Green was fantastic. I hope you are doing well and had a good experience with Dr. Fuller.

Hey Everyone!

Sorry I hadn't responded until now. I've been since surgery. I had a great surgery experience. I was sleeved on Sept 14th and was home by noon on the 15th. I had no coomplications and the care I received at Scripps Green was great! I am about 2 1/2 weeks out and alrady lost 33 pounds. I had my first follow up yesterday with Dr. Fuller and the dietician Janet Nash. They are both really great, very helpful. I am on pureed foods, but starting next week I was given the ok to go to stage 4, and start some solids. I did have to get the unfalvored Protein powder becuase I am having a hard time getting Protein in. The shakes just make my stomach hurt at the smell of them. I have tried so many and they all do the same thing. Other than that I'm doing great, haven't had any issues. Which is surprising because of everything I read its not uncommon to have some issues. Hope everyone is doing well :) Keep me updated on your journey!!

Hi. thanks for posting information on your experience! I am scheduled for the sleeve with Dr Fuller on 8/21. Excited and very nervous. Keeping fingers crossed that BCBS approves my request. Hope you are doing well.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
