I am having a torrid time since my surgery on June 26th and have never felt so ill. I have had shingles (twice), piles, Constipation, acid reflux like you wouldn't believe and I have got to the stage where I can't face food.

This surgery is not done often in the UK and I haven't told many people I have had the surgery, so I feel quite alone and don't have people I can discuss these issues with.

Maybe I am just having a bad day :-(

Wow you are over 2 mo out and still sick. My surgeon did tell me that some people are nauseous for months but he said it does pass. Good luck to u I hope things get better soon.

(((((((HUGS))))))) all the way from Australia I'm sending you warmest wishes for this horrible time to be over so you can go on with your life! I hope some people here can help with advice on Vitamins etc and I would recommend going for a spa/massage and colonic to help with the toilet troubles! Look after yourself!!!

Thanks people, it's much appreciated.

I do take multi-Vitamins daily, but I think the colonic irrigation is a great idea - thank you.

I think my body has not taken well to the surgery and has left me feeling run down and therefore open to getting these things.

On the brightside I have lost 36 pounds, the sun is shining and I am going to put a nice dress on and meet friends for a cuppa this afternoon :-)

Thank you so much xxx

I am so very sorry about the difficulties your having. I really hope for a speedy recovery. I too feel very run down I take multi- Vitamins Biotin for my hair skin nails and potassium. And still feel light headed and total exhaustion. I work out and I take in roughly anywhere from 500-850 calories a day. I've lost 40 lbs to date. I'm 10 weeks out, I can't seem 2 find a Protein Shake I like I'm still struggling major with that. Constipation yes I have. Try taking a probiotic. Or make a pumpkin Soup. Because you can mash or purée it. That will help as well. I hope all the best.

Again, thanks for the hugs and advise. I will take it all on board.

These forums are great for advise and support.

I thought after my initial post that I could sit down and feel sorry for myself or give myself a good kick and go and cheer myself up :-)

Hi

Besides the shingles I have sturggled with Constipation (terribly) the piles (a nightmare for me) and reflux. The reflux is now controlled with Nexium 20mg in the morning and 20 at night, the constipation controlled with Solar Calcium and magnesium citrate (liquid) and the piles well thats another story. With the reflux. There is very definit foods that causes and worsense it.You have to figure out what it is for you.As for me it is Tomato, pineapple, pickles, fruit, wine,(any booze really) hummus ect ect.Try to figure out and just dont eat it at all.

It also took a long time for me to start feeling really normal again but it will happen.Do try to cope with the other issues on a daily basis ie.do not forget to drink MOM or something like that every day.If you forget about it just for a day it becomes a great problem again. It is better to micro manage it than to fix it.

I really hope you feel better soon.Just be patient and try to enjoy the moment when you feel good and dont do to much if you can help it.I took it really easy for 5 months and now at almost 6 I have energy and can finally say I feel good.

Good luck and do keep us posted.

I hope your feeling better, and your friends were able to cheer you up. Big hugs to you:). I take Prilosec daily and it helps with that nauseous feeling and reflux. In the US they have a shot for shingles, have you gotten one? Hopefully all your ailments will soon be gone and you'll be able to enjoy your new slim sexy self!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
