Hello everyone! My name is Amanda and this is my first post on VST [after a couple months of lurking daily]. I am 24 years old and started at 447.5 pounds. I have been obese most of my life. I lost 200 lbs in 2005' date=' but gained it all back and some more after the death of my father. After not much success with further dieting I decided to have WLS. I am really nervous! Not nervous about the surgery but nervous about if it will work and if I will be able to keep off the weight. :(

I have lost 36 pounds since the middle of June by sticking to the calorie and Protein intake my dietician recommended. I have my first appt with my surgeon this coming Tuesday!! I am nervous. I am not sure what he is going to say... and if he will agree with me having VSG. :( Nervous to find out it is not possible for me to reach my goal of 170 lbs......... Any one else pre-surgery with about the same to lose? Could use a support buddy.[/quote']

Hi Amanda,

Well done on your loss so far, you're doing brilliantly, I hope your appointment on Tuesday brings you good news :-)

I to have a lot to lose currently 360lb, I have my sleeve operation on 20th Oct. (I hope, picked up a throat virus). I start my pre-op diet Friday, diet doesn't look too painful but we will see lol

Good luck honey, you can do anything you set your mind too.

Xxx

Hi Amanda! I'm Andrea. I am higher weight as well, so high that my Dr. can't weigh me so I don't even know how heavy. I'm guessing 440, but I really just pulled that number out of the clear blue sky. I only know it's over 400.

My goal is also 170 (are you 5'10.5" too? lol). I know it's a lot to lose, but I think as weight comes off, I'll be motivated to exercise more. As it is, I want to, but I'm afraid to push myself too hard. I want it to come naturally, and I think VSG is a happy medium between bypass and band. I don't want nutritional deficits and I don't want a medical implant. If we stay on track, I don't think it's any less possible to lose weight with a sleeve.

I don't have a surgery date, but hopefully it will be soon! :)

I look forward to hearing more about your journey!

Hi Andrea! Sorry it took me sooooo long to see your post. Haven't been following the board very much. I am sorry that your doctor cannot weigh you. I don't understand why they do not have higher capacity scales... in fact it kind of infuriates me. I hope by now you were able to go somewhere so you know your starting point. :)

I am actually only 5'7" but my frame is large. When I used to be 230lbs I looked like someone who was 170ish. My body is shaped weird. Did you find out when your surgery is? Mine is 11 days away, woohoo! This pre-op diet sucks, but mine is less strict than most I have seen on here. Its not 100% liquid. I have Protein bars and shakes all day with a tiny meal for dinner. Its a pain but I am shedding 1lb a day with it... so it is WORTH IT!

Let me know how you are doing! :)

Amanda

I go to a seminar on Monday, I'm really hoping they have a scale there. I realize that I could BUY a high capacity scale, but I just don't want to! I'd really prefer not to have a scale in my house at all... too stressful! I hope I can also find out what other steps are needed and when I can schedule a surgery date!!

Best of luck to you on your surgery. Your pre-op diet doesn't sound too terrible! And if you're already a few days in, hopefully the worst of it is over and you'll be smooth sailing to surgery day!! I can't wait to hear from you post-op! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
