Your Meals Each Day

Recommended Posts

I'm a month out and my surgeon wants my Protein intake at 100 g a day and no more than 600 calories each day. This is what I had today:

Boiled egg white

Protein shake (1 1/2 scoops)

2 oz lunch meat

Protein Shake (1 1/2 scoops)

1/3 cup cottage cheese

1 cup puréed Soup

Water

This was a little over 100 g protein and just under 600 calories.

What's a typical day of food for you guys? I'm trying to mix things up...

I'm six weeks out and I do at least 2 Protein shakes per day, with the goal over getting over 100 grams of Protein per day.

I shoot for 500-1000 calories, depending on how I feel and how much I'm working out.

I also do chicken breast, egg substitute omelettes, yogurt, turkey chili, tuna, baked fish (tilapia or salmon), shrimp, refried Beans, steak or bison, and a few carbs, fruits and vegetables here and there.

Y'all need to get a myfitnesspal account. Then you can track your food /calories / exercise and also see what everyone else is eating too. I have a couple of hundred friends on my account from here. The app is free..give it whirl. You've got nothing to lose but weight. My name is the same there as here. Look me up. There is also a thread here with names of people that have accounts. Look it up too.Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
