Day 3 of Chantix and still smoking but cigs def tasting worse and worse. Only 3 cigs today- so still proud of myself. I think I'm gonna get some blow pops or something- cuz I am noticing I want to smoke while on phone or when friends stop by (who smoke).

My husband and I both went on Chantix and we both hated it! Bad nausea and terrible, crazy dreams. I had to quit smoking because my surgeon won't operate on anyone who smokes so I used the patch. I only needed to wear it for a week and I forgot to put one on one day and I was fine. I want this surgery so bad that I have managed not to touch one in 3 months. Here in NC there is a quit line where you can sign up and they'll send free Patches or gum.

Diekoi,

You are doing great! I was just gonna post and ask how you're doing, but I see that you're doing well. When I quit I always kept a pack of gum around and chewed a piece whenever I wanted to smoke. If nothing else it helped distract me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
