Food Intake Has Increased!

Recommended Posts

Yesterday completed week 5. Today my food intake has increased. I've been eating between 2-3 oz at a time. Yesterday & today it has increased to 4-5 oz. everything taste good. When I am full I don't have that pain in my chest that I have been having. Just a full feeling. Has anyone else food intake increased that much between 5 & 6 weeks. I don't want to over eat or stretch my stomach. Is this normal.

My food intake has increased also. There is a very fine line between satisfied and full. When I go to full it is not pleasant. I am trying to learn where the cut off is BEFORE I eat too much. What's amazing about the surgery is that one day you can not eat something and the next day you can. Our bodies are so cool - and they are healing. But I am with you - I don't want to stretch my new tummy. And sometimes it is sore - even after 2.5 months - depending how much and what I eat. Protein hurts the most (meat, chicken). Anyway - you seem to be doing great! Thanks for the post! Amy

I'm almost 3 months out and 4 to 5oz is my max. Its nice because I can tell when I'm getting full because I start to burp. I have never really had an uncomfortable feeling when I eat but then I also chew my food to death!

Seems normal to me. The "cheats" are what get me. It's a lot easier to eat 6oz of something healthy than 6 oz of something questionable.

One example is when I got a cheeseburger..don't criticize, I HAD to go for it, just a test. ;)

I had a few small bites and everything was good. A bigger bite, and at the point I was through maybe 1/4-1/3 of the burger. And one more bite just felt like it stuck right at the top of my stomach. And then I was fairly uncomfortable for the next hour or so.

But, when I eat what I'm supposed to. Say, chicken breast, I may feel full, but I don't feel too full or uncomfortable.

I noticed a slight increase too, and I'll be seven weeks out next Monday. The funny thing is Today I thought "oh my gosh I pigged out!" - because I was so full - and then I looked at my friends plate and that put things into perspective for me. I'm actually only eating a few bites more than I was lol. It also depends on what I'm eating. I can eat a bit more of soft Beans or Soup Than say chicken, fish or beef.

Thanks everyone. You've made me feel better. You r right it's amazing how u can eat more of softer foods like oatmeal or veggies than chicken, fish or steak.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
