Spanx Instead Of A Binder For Compression?

Recommended Posts

So I'm curious- can Spanx be used instead of a binder for compression? I ask because I'm being sleeved in Puerto Vallarta in two weeks and KNOW how uncomfortable it can be to sit with a binder on. I thought maybe spanx might be a smidge better? Thoughts? Yes? No? Maybe? You're crazy?!! :D

What I like about the binder is it is more adjustable and if I sit for a while and it starts feeling tight I can loosen it. And now 2 weeks out I can make it tighter as the swelling goes down :)

Fair enough- I just know that the plane ride home is going to be hell and I want to be as comfy as possible! :D

I took my Spanx with me to Mexico when I had my surgery in April.. I also packed mostly maxi dresses... I can't tell you enough how glad I was to have my Spanx!! I wear the Higher Power that come up to my bra and go to my mid-thigh.. Plus, they have a split crotch which is just soooooo convenient!! They gave me the support that I needed without the tightness of a true compression garment. Plus, I had a drain and my Spanx held it in place wonderfully!!! I have always been an avid Spanx wearer because the really do smooth out my "kibbles and bits" and truly feel like a 2nd skin!! Love Them!! :P

Hi Barb,

I have never worn Spanx... which one are you referencing? I can't find the split crotch one that you mentioned on the Spanx website.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Dottie

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
