Ah...four more days!!!

Recommended Posts

I can't believe my date is finally coming. Now my excitement is turning into nerves. :nervous

Was thinking of going out and buying a heating pad...anyone find that really helpful?

Wow..I've survived ten days of optifast..now if thats not an accomplishment! I'm dying for pizza....hmmm...how many more weeks until I can have a nibble?

Keep thinking of all the things I should of had before I had to start the optifast.....like a huge steak, and a chinese buffet one last time..

Oh well...new life from now on, right?

LOL-I did do a Chinese Buffet the night before my surgery. I know, not a great idea. :guess But what was interesting is that I didn't want to pig out, and when I ate a little more then I should have I felt yucky.

YES - a heating pad was one of my favorite things, my left shoulder hurt a lot for about 5-6 days, and the heating pad felt great.

Good luck with your upcoming surgery Swanny. I went through a mourning of a loss of food and my old way of eating while I was going through my surgery preop diet. The nice thing however, is that now that I'm done I can eat almost everything that I did before, just in much smaller quantities. I'm hoping you'll be surprised how little you miss things. Also, the weight loss generates an enthusiasm for more loss and therefore makes it easier to stay away from "bad" food.

Best of luck on the upcoming surgery. I found walking, bending and taking Tylenol (instead of Vicodin) went a long way in making my recovery easier.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
