wecome aboard

August 20th will be here before you know it WOO HOO - such an exciting time waiting for WLS -

keep calm, but enjoy this time period with the anticipation for a new healthier & happier you

dot all your "I"s and cross your "T's" before you go to hospital

get some Protein shakes for home- but don't spend a whole bunch of money on different types of shakes you might find that you might end up not liking

get other food, like broth,

buy popsicles count as a liquid - and they are delicious yum yum

do you have a family, kids, etc. - if you're a cook (not me) maybe you could make a few meals before you leave for WLS, put in freezer, and gradually food will be taken out so you don't have to worry about feeding the family

if you do have kids, maybe you could get a friend/family member to help take care of them those first few days of recuperation.

if no kids - still ask for help from a friend/relative - you will just have had major surgery, you need to rest and take care of yourself - someone might be able to help you

so excited you are joining our club, we have a secret hand shake too ;)

see you around the block - we'll be waving ;)

have a good surgery, and recovery

good luck on your journey

kathy

I'm also having my sleeve done on August 20th. 8:30am, so I'm right behind you on line lol. Two weeks from this Monday!! , I've been playing around with different Protein drinks, got a supply of a few different ones, not too many of each. They say that our tastes will change afterwards.

When my kids were babies, we use to make chicken Soup and strain the life out of it so it would flow through a bottle. My mom did that for mee and froze 1-2 oz servings.

Are you traveling far? If so, you'll need to pack I'm having mine close to home, NYC, so I just got a new bathrobe with pockets to hold my insulin pump in the hospital.

Good luck sleeve sister! Join our group on Facebook. It's private and called "August sleevers, where ya's at, VST group".

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
