I heard a lot about terrible pain right after the surgery. and that pain killer meds will help.

but only now I realize that in the hospital you probably have it through IV but what about home.

you have liquid pain killer meds? how do you take them if even the Water is hard to manage?

I doubt that we should take pills.< /p>

Honestly, the pain is not that bad. After 7 surgeries this was the least painful and mine was a Band removal as well. My sister was also sleeved earlier this year with a different surgeon. We were both given liquid vicodeine Syrup. She never even used hers though.

I was also given pills to take upon discharge from the hospital, and it was no problem.

I had a lot of postop pain. I was given liquid when I left the hospital but it wasn't strong enough so my doctor called in a pill format that was stronger. I just cut it in half and took it. I had no problems at all.

Thank you.

I know the person who did the vsg 3 months ago and she said that pain is manageable, but when I told her coworker ( he was with her at the hospital after the surgery) that I want to do what she has he was in shock and ask me if I want to be in such a pain. So I assume we are forgetting the pain because we have better outcome but our people who saw us in pain cannot forget it .

Some people have very little to no pain and take no pain killers once they come home from the hospital. Others, like me, have a lot of it. I was on prescription pain meds until 4 weeks out. I even called my doctor at 3 weeks out crying in pain and was told that some people have bad pain that long.

After having laparoscopic tubal ligation surgery, this was by far less painful. Also, I was given pill pain meds. While I did need to take it occasionally, I worried the same thing about how I was going to swallow them when I could barely manage Water. Honestly, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, but it did hurt to swallow them.

It's painful. The IV morphine was awesome and took care of almost all my pain. They send you home with liquid Lortab elixir (It's like vicodin except the dosage of hydrocodone is a little higher per dose). The first few days it felt like it didn't help much. I kind of wish they'd given me something stronger, but I made it through fine. You'll do great. It's painful, but manageable.

I was in severe pain in the hospital after surgery but I also had a 3cm hiatal hernia repair and they took out my gallbladder. They gave me iv dilaudid every 2 hrs. They offered me percosett to take home but i've had bad experiences in the past so I asked for vicodin. Vicodin is like a horse pill, so they had me cut it into 4 small pieces and swallow each. You can also crush some pain pills and mix them with applesauce, depending on what it is.

I was sent home with liquid lortab but never had to take it. I've had 2 c-sections and an abdominal hysterectomy and the hysterectomy was much, much worse than the sleeve.

I had pain, but I feel it more of my hiatal hernia repair (it was a very large hiatal hernia) than my Sleevie. I was given the Lortab Elixer and it's been phenomenal for relieving my pain.

Don't be afraid. Even if it hurts, it's a temporary pain. It's worth it in the end. :)

Thank you very much for your answers.

I know that pain will be forgotten but result would be VISIBLE.

I did not take anything other than Tylenol when returning home. I am just over 2 weeks post and still take it occasionally. Most of my post op pain was actually gas. It was not until 8 days post op that I took it frequently due to incision pain and pulling.

Silly question.....if someone gave you a hug right now would it be painful? I have house guests coming two weeks after surgery and I'm not going to be sharing my surgery info with them. They are close friends and employees....we hug....do I need to make up a story?

I don't have the surgery yet, but base on my previous experience yes you would need some I am sure they would notice you are moving differently.

I was sent home with Percocet pill form. I just broke in half (pills had line) and took. No issues here taking pills.< /p>

I have to say no real pain other than big incision other just felt like did a million situps.

So many variables to whether you will personally experience pain and how much. I have noticed that those that have hernia repairs seems to have a little but more discomfort. You are right that the experience fades overtime.

Just take your meds if you need them..you will go great!!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
