Pain Again, Like When First Out

Recommended Posts

So after 2 weeks out, I decided to clean out my closet. An activity that took me 3 hrs. No heavy lifting. When I was done, the area around my biggest incision started to hurt. Like when at beginning. Feels so tight and tender. The pain has continued a day after. My PA had worned me that when people become more active, the muscles under start hurting. Its REALLY tender. I have my 2 week pre op appt Wednesday. Should I call before then, wait? Should I be concerned? Any one experienced the same?

I am almost two months out and still, when I overdo it, I get some pain. Not like you are experiencing, but I can feel a twinge in my incision site. I have also heard about pain coming back after it has been gone for a while, just out of the blue.

I hope you feel better quick!

Maybe going to the Dr. wouldn't hurt. Eventhough you weren't lifting anything, it's possible to have popped a staple from stretching, maybe reaching for something in the closet. Hope everything goes well and feel better soon!

At two weeks out I had the same pain. It is part of the healing process. After having the pain for 4 days I went to my PA. She said it was normal. I took a Tylenol and the next few days were better. I had to wear a girdle to help ease the pain, but it finally went away. That tightness and tenderness when I moved a certain was terrible. Happy to report no more pain!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
