So my head is hungry. My stomach is not of course. Im only a few days out of surgery, I was sleeved on Monday. But my head knows I haven't had real food since Friday. So, all those darned food commercials are not easy to watch. I'm no where near ready for food. But I finally understand the whole head hunger thing. Ugh!

I put the TV on mute during commercials, and keep something handy to distract me so I don't look at the tv...or make a trip to the little girls room. In my experience, "head hunger" does get better...especially if you focus on how NOT hungry your tummy is. All the best to you.

Something in what you are doing is acting as a trigger, you get a cue, it starts the trigger and urges on the habit (head hunger).

Consider reading "The Power of Habit" by Dughill - it explains it sooo well.

I struggled with major head hunger for my first month post-op, and now rarely struggle at all, so there's light at the end of the tunnel! It was those darn commercials for me, too! Hang in there

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
