Can't seem to sleep and have to be at the hospital for 5:30 for my procedure, and have to stay bc the insurance seems to want you to stay at least one night.

Wel it's no wonder you can't sleep. I don't have a date yet. But when I think about having to get in the car and drive when it's time, I can't picture doing it!

But I will. And so will you.

As corny as it sounds, this will be the beginning of a wonderful chapter in your life. Once you get to the hospital, they will be just great with you ,you'll just go with flow and the next thing you know, this time tomarrow, it will be behind you and your new chapter begins! I hope you have a solid support team and use them often.

Hopefully, one day soon I'll be asking you post- op questions. Now say a prayer, ask for peace of heart, and get some rest. Thinking of you...

You'll need that one night, at least, in the hospital. Congrats on taking this first step for the rest of your life! I remember being so nervous the night before surgery, but so excited as well! I couldn't anticipate the many wonderful ways my life was about to change, and it's been even better than I thought it would be! :)

Good luck and welcome to the loser's bench! :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
