The day of the surgery, I thought "oh my gosh, what have I done to me?". It's been an adjustment but the benefits are being seen. I've not taken a blood pressure pill in 2 weeks and I've lost 22 pounds in a month. Five days after the surgery, I walked a mile in 30 minutes...7 days later, I'm walking a 15 minute mile. I walk 30-60 minutes a day. I'm excited to step on the scale and watch the numbers go down. My clothes are beggining to loosen up. I'm looking forward to playing harder with my grandsons when they come to stay this next week. My whole spirit is uplifted!

Thats great! I had mine done June 26, 13 days ago and I am not as active yet. I did have 2 hernias repaired and my gallbladder out. The sleeve has definitely been the easier recovery! Darn hernias!

Great for you! I look forward to sharing our successes!!

We have the same surgery date. You'll get there. I was determined to start walking more before surgery so I would have that strength coming out. The surgery is just a tool. It's still all about diet and exercise. Good luck!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
