*You can also check your local nutrition and supplement store. Here are the guidelines for choosing a Multivitamin after bariatric surgery:

Multivitamin Mineral Supplement

Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG)

Bariatric specific multivitamin in liquid/chewable form for the first three months. Three months after surgery, you may advance to a capsule or tablet form. If you choose not to take a bariatric surgery specific multivitamin and instead, take just a general, adult multivitamin, choose one that contains 100% of daily value for at least 2/3 of nutrients and take 200% (double the dose) of a general multivitamin.

For all surgeries:

  • Keep in mind that if you take 200%, it should not exceed 10,000 IU Vitamin A or 1,000 mg (1,500 IU) of Vitamin E
  • Choose a complete formula that contains folic acid, thiamin, zinc, selenium, 2 mg copper, and iron (or iron can be taken separately)
  • If you choose to take a non-bariatric specific multivitamin, you will also need to take an additional B50 complex

In addition:

  • Avoid time-released and enteric coating. Avoid children’s formulas as they are incomplete.
  • May tolerate better if taken with food
  • Not all brands are created equal
  • There are no complete gummy vitamins, even gummies made for adults
  • Do not mix a multivitamin containing iron with calcium supplements and take at least 2 hours apart.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
