I am Just a SeaMonkey

Recommended Posts

See I know that anything I type just gets launched into the void, drifting in space like a SeaMonkey in a fishbowl. It may offend, inspire, or amuse the other SeaMonkeys but at the end of the day there will be no political reform, coup d'etat, or religious restructuring.

The fishbowl belongs to Alex and he could easily pour a little Clorox into the bowl if we get out of hand.

All this has been said before, but I thought it would be nice to have an oasis for the peaceful, fun loving SeaMonkeys to come and float in peace.

Today's topic will be: Children's TV programming from the 70's and 80's

If someone comes to defecate in this pond or to bite the other monkeys, I will request a lock.

Childrens programs from the 70's oh lordy that hit a nerve. I loved watching Saturday morning shows, looked forward to the new ones every September.

I remember watching Sigmund and the Sea Monster, HR PuffnStuff, Laffalimpics (sp?), Felix the Cat, Josie & the Pussy Cats, Shazam, Fat Albert, The banana Splits, The Groovy Ghoolies, Land of the Lost, Bugaloo's, Wacky Racers, Speed Racer... and so much more like on channel 13 (PBS) The Electric Company, Zoom, Mr. Rogers.

Wow what memories it brings back.

Oo how about Thomas the Tank Engine when it was still "The Fat Controller" and was narrated by Ringo Starr!

We left out Catch That Pigeon....

My wife and I realized we were meant for each other (we hated each other when we first meet) after having a 4 hr long conversation about cartoons. Specifically the Pink Panther side series, like Ant and aardvark, Mr Jaws and Catfish, and the ones no one ever remembers...The Tijuana Toads (later changed to Texas Toads) and the crazy legged crane, and Hoot Kloot.

Because I love my wife (no matter how much I hate the show) I bought her the whole 9 box set of Little House, she has watched ALL of them.

My DH couldn't believe that I hadn't heard of of the Sid & Marty Krofft shows, so we rented them on Netflix... 20 years too late. I probably would have liked them when I was younger. OK, Sigmund was a little bit cute.

I was a cartoon lover: Smurfs, Snorks, and Scooby Doo. We watched Little House every Sunday before church. Most of our TV time was PBS, so as a kid I loved Mr. Wizard.

Is this topic dry? Want a new one? How about favorite vacation ever? We can still list or favorite kid shows too... Lets stretch and see if we can do two topics at once.

Can we also talk about the radio shows of the 1950's before my family had a TV?

Fibber McGee and Molly

Inner Sactum

The Lone Ranger

The Shadow

Edgar Bergen

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
