Does anyone regret doing it?

Can you drink alcohol?

I'm two days away from making my appointment. :)

Trying to get my mom to do this as well but she's afraid she will be miserable because she loves to eat.

No regrets, except not doing it sooner. I want to enjoy the rest of my life, not be miserable and unhappy because I am in pain.

No regrets at all, having this surgery was one of the best decisions I have ever made. You are not supposed to drink alcohol, I think that it is partially because of all the calories in most drinks. On a few occassions i have had a vodka with sugar free cranberry juice, but can't drink very much of it without getting tipsy.

I regret not getting it sooner. Since losing the weight I have become more social, so I go out more & yes I drink. I used to be able to drink...I mean DRINK! But now I can only drink 2 cocktails and I feel pretty good.

The next day I try to drink an extra 16oz of Water and 10 extra mins working out. That makes me feel a little better about it. :)

If I had to make the choice over again, I would still do it. That being said I will give this warning; if you or your mom are food addicts you will really need to sort things out before doing this. Ask this question; Can I truly say that I hate being fat MORE than I love food. If the answer is no, then you are not ready to have this surgery. You simply cannot satisfy an addiction on two bites of food. Also if you ended up like many of us and food was not good any more, would you be completely miserable? Are you willing to sacrifice taste to be thin? This is a drastic measure done by desperate people to save their lives. We do not know before the surgery exactly how it will affect each of us. If you or she is not to the point that there is not anything (eating or drinking wise) you would not give up forever to have a sleeve, then don't do it. Can you live without cokes? drinking? sweets? fried foods? It is very likely you won't have to give these up completely, but if you did, could you say "so what!" and still be happy. You have got to want this more than anything and if you don't, wait until you do. Best wishes on your decision. I feel like mine saved my life.

Yes you can drink alcohol but personally it isnt worth it because a) you get full to fast and B) you get buzzed to fast... and the only regret I have is that I didnt do it sooner- I had a horrible time recovering/increasing my foods and even with that I wouldnt go back and change a thing... Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
