Getting Back In The Groove

Recommended Posts

I haven't been to the gym in well over a week. I fainted last Saturday at work (mortifying) and was scared to go Sunday before work in case I did it again. Then I went to visit my family in MI all last week. My parents have a treadmill but I only used it twice  . I had to work all this weekend too, so again, I didn't want to over exert myself in the heat when I had to be at work. I really don't want a repeat of last weekend. Now, its Monday (very early here in OH) and I'm planning on going every day this week since I'm going BACK to MI this coming weekend. I'm SO scared now. I haven't seen my trainer or lifted a weight, and I'm afraid I lost all progress I made on the "helliptical". I'm afraid its going to be like starting over :(. Even thinking about it is making me soooooooooo tired, lol.

What caused you to faint, do you know?

I have no idea. I had gone to a Zumba class in the morning and started work at 230pm. I fainted a little after 4. I THINK, it might have been a combination of too long between meals, over exertion and dehydration when it was over 90 degrees. I work at an outlet mall and I was really early for work so I walked around the mall 3 times for a little more exercise. I think it was all just too much for me.

Take care of yourself. I'm also worried about getting back into the swing of things after being on restriction from the surgery.

Don't worry, going a week or two without exercise does not mean you've lost all the progress you've made. But remember you need to eat and drink enough to fuel your workouts. It's not only about weight loss, it's about health, and it's very possible to lose weight in an unhealthy way. Take care of yourself; listen to your body. Good luck getting back in the swing of things!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
