DeAnn ~ You are so sweet!! Gosh, what is it that is making us so happy? I feel the same way. Is it the weight loss? Is it knowing we are losing and not gaining? Is is that we are eating healthier and feeling better? I'm not sure, but I know I am happy.

I'm with ya, I love my band!!

OMG,

I love my band and my band loves me. My sister-inlaw bad the gastric bypass the same week as I had my band. She's lost 36 pounds in 6 weeks and I've lost 33 pounds in 6 weeks, not counting preop, just since surgery. I can do everything I could do before and more and she can't. I was 4 wheeler riding for 6 hours on my 10th day postop and she couldn't even think about it. This makes me feel very good about my decision.

I've had two fills, 1.5 and .75, total 2.25 and the restriction feels great. I'm scheduled for another fill in 3 more weeks but it will have to be a little one and if I keep loosing at this rate he probably would prefer I wait. We'll see.

Hope everyone is going to have a wonderful holiday weekend. We were headed to Tampa and then on down to the keys after that but we're postponing for 2 weeks to let the surf settle down. I am actually going to wear a bathing suit.

We were cleaning out our garage tonight, we're building a new home and to sell this one I need a dump truck to get rid of all of this crap. Anyway, I found all of my old clothes. They seriously ranged in size from 7/8 10/12, no 16's, 18's, 20's and 22's. OMG, you can tell I'm a dieter. LOL

Well, I went from 24's, 22's, and 20's fit but are loose so I can't wait to go to a reg. store to buy size 18's. It will truly be a NSV for me.

Hope everyone has a safe and losing weekend.

Love you all,

Sherri

This post gives me hope. I need a second fill.... currently 1.65 and 2 weeks later, very little restriction. I will wait a week and hopefully get a fill to 2.something.

Thanks

Did someone mention Dr. 90210?? I'd let him do anything he wanted to me! Surgery wise... dirty minds... he IS awfully handsome though...

3loves....making us happy? for me its the constant decline on the scale. For once in my life I see success that I know will stay. I was always very good at losing and lost all my excess weight at least twice in the past 7 years.....but could never maintain. (some of you already know this) My husband and I own and operate a fine dining restaurant, we live in the same building and this has been a huge obstacle for me. www.woodysrestaurant.ca , my husband is a professional chef, he cooks "clean" for me but I'm still around the food he cooks for customers 24/7....this is so hard for me.

So, to see the scale constantly move downwards and know that it will stay that way has put me on cloud 9.

I also want a full body lift but I will have to self pay so I think I will save for the Tummy Tuck first, then I need to have the "gobbler" under my chin removed. For 54 (almost 55) my face doesn't show too many other aging marks so I'd really like to have all the loose skin under my chin removed.

Does anyone else have the problem of a "gobbler" under their chin?

Carol

Carol-my Dad (he is 70yo) had his surgery in April. He lost 50 pounds and is doing great. He also complains about his "gobbler". I think he looks great no matter what.

So happy to hear from other bandsters who LOVE their band. Mine has saved my life. my self esteem, my relationships with others (including my spouse), basically EVERYTHING. Let's hope we all continue on this path to success.

I also need a full body lift, but my bank account barely can cover my TT, if insurance denies. I can live with the bat wings, but this gut has got to go !!!!!

Have a great day all~

Well, just to let you know......the pain you have from TT is SOOOOOOO worth it. I had mine almost a year ago along with breast lift and liposuction. I would not do the BL or Lipo again, but I don't regret one red cent I spent for my TT. I still weigh close to 200 lbs, but put on a size 12 jeans yesterday along with a junior size top (XL, but still Juniors). I have alot of numbness which bothers me worse than the pain, but it's worth it.

The first 6 weeks or so when you have all of the swelling are bad and don't let anyone tell you different. But.........I swear to you....it's so worth it. For those of you whose insurance will pay after WLS......go for it. If you have to pay out of pocket, find a way....you won't regret it. I still run my hands across my stomach everyday and smile because it's so flat. I can't imagine what it's going to be like when I finish losing my weight. I get so excited thinking about it.

I found out today that the nutrionist in my Dr's office changed from what I saw that it was some time back. I cant have chicken of anysort for 3 more weeks. I can have fish in 2. So what has been added on to my diet (just coming off liquids from surgery 8-15)

EGGS!

English muffins!

String cheese

eggs and muffins, isnt this the crap that a BUNCH of bandsters have problems with??!?!!

I want to chew, but i am terrified!

I can barely eat string cheese - and only sometimes. I have never been able to eat eggs or English muffins. Seems strange to me, but I guess you should try it. Don't hesitate to call him/her up if these foods don't go down well. Most Bandsters would have trouble with the muffins, at least.

Scrambles eggs are OK, but only if lightly scrambled. If cooked until dry, then it is an issue. This means omlettes are out for me, but I can add stuff to the scrambled eggs. Fried eggs....never in the AM, but occasionally I can in the evening for dinner.

Not bready muffins, but if like a cornmeal muffin, I can if I eat only a little, and eat it slowly... they are more like cake, and that is a doable texture... bread texture, like a biscuit or bagel... no way.

Ok, I just ate 1/2 english muffin with ricotta cheese on it. (nutritionist's suggestion) I am not sliming and I can swallow and spit, and a couple of sips of crystal light stays down.

I feel a lot of pressure, its not painful, just pressure. I ate the 1/2 over 20 min and took little bites. Did I eat too much or is it stuck?

Paul,

What type of band and how much fill do you have. I feel pretty restricted but I can eat a few eggs in the morning. Just wondered if I had as much fill as I thought I had.

Your so cute too. hehehhehehehehe

Thanks you!

I have a Vanguard Band... currently with 5.8 CCs in it, and unlikely to go any higher as I am within 30 lbs of goal, and am pretty well restricted.

Thank you thank you thank you. I needed to hear this !!! I am so nervous but now I know it will all be worth it in the end. Should I put off (or not have ) the breast lift? I was thinking of having them done together. My husband says he is happy with them, droopy or not !!!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
