Frustrated! Busting My Hump... No Weight Loss

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the suggestion Mr. Worm . My only concern with going no carb is that I'm working out 5-6 times a week. I'm already light headed most days I exercise due to lack of enough calories. If I cut carbs, will I be able to do any exercise?

Cutting calories isn't always the best way. As long as you are exercising regularly, you can actually increase your calorie intake. Your body is just going to burn them off anyway. Aim for a min of 1000 a day

Look at it this way: would you rather be a pound of feathers (fat) or a pound of rocks (muscle)? Both weigh the same amount but which fits in the smaller package?

You are doing great- leave the scale alone for a month!

Jen - Most days I get in 800-900 calories. Most recently (this weekend) I struggled to get in 1200 calories. I literally felt like I had to eat too often and it made me really uncomforable, because I'm only supposed to have 3 meals a day. Yet I cant get in enough calories in those three meals to get me to 1200. So I have to eat more often.

Not to mention that getting in Water is a pain because I shouldn't drink one hour before or after I eat. So I basically feel like I'm spending my day watching the clock thinking, can I eat now, or, can I drink now? LOL It's insane!!!

I haven't been sleeved yet so i haven't experienced that feeling you get but i was told i didn't need to only eat 3 times a day. Maybe try smaller meals 5 times a day?? The place I am going also said 30 min before and after for water..i love how different surgeons all have different instructions for us! Keep up the good work! :)

How is it going on the battle with the scale? I'm having the same issue. My doctor wants me to up my calories & Protein intake because I'm burning too much working out. My weight is going up 2 pounds, down 1, up one, down 2 & I know I'm in starvation mode because I'm not having Ketosis breath.

Any suggestions on how to get more calories in?

I think that may be my problem also. I've been on a really long stall. I'm getting in a lot of exercise but not losing. I'm going to try to bump up my calories and see if that helps.

Hummm, my surgeons told me the same thing. I have a bounce of a couple of lbs and I've just learned to except it. I can get in more calories if I'm adding differen't foods to my day. I am 9 months out and I do eat more. If I stick with high Protein like meats, my calorie intake is low. If I eat nuts and stuff, my calorie intake is higher. So you might eat more nuts. I believe everyone has some bounce. You lose some, then the next day, it bounces up a few. It could be Water fluctuation or TOM. It is frustrating. :)

I've decided to give the scale a break for a while. I'm focusing on improving my cardio output/endurance and improving my strength training with my trainer. I have to eat at least 1200 cal, or else my workouts suck and I feel like crap the rest of the day. I've been eating these great Protein Bars that have 20grams in them and low sugar. there's two kinds I like. Pure Protein chocolate peanut Carmel ( tastes almost like a snickers) and think thin bars( chunky or creamy Peanut Butter are my favs-but I like brownie crunch too). the bars are between 180-230cal each. I also found a good Protein Drink at whole foods, Orgain. it's all natural and organic stuff and has 16 g of protein and 255 cals. both the bars and shakes are incorporated into my diet now to help me get 1200 cals in. I plan to weigh in at the end of next week, just to see if I'm on the right track. Meanwhile, my clothes are fitting looser, so I take that as a sign that progress being made. Hope that helps!

That does help i'm going to buy some bars today and have my SUV hide the scale for awhile. I've become obsessed with it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
