Hello All... I Am New To Vst And Just Starting My Journey :)

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am a 33 year old male and I live in Riverside, Ca. I've been lurking on here for while, reading very insightful posts, and gaining a lot of knowledge. I am a District Manager for a well known retailer and it certainly takes most of my time and attention. This year I've decided to make myself the #1 priority and give myself the needed attention as well. I am in the Kaiser Options program in Corona and actually just finished my final class today. :) I am very excited, but also the whole concept of getting the sleeve certainly cemented today after finishing my final class. I have my Medical Interview Appointment on 7/10/2012 which will determine if I am referred for the surgery. Having said all that.... I am very happy to be a part of this forum and looking forward to gaining even more knowledge as I continue this journey.

Hope you all are doing well in your journeys!

Welcome! I live downtown Chicago. I'm 3 weeks out and in the middle of my first stall. Because of this forum, I know not to freak out and just stay on track. There is so much knowledge here so you are in the right place!!

Hello SML welcome to VST! I'm glad you have joined in the conversation, I'm sure as you go along your journey you will find being open has many benefits. Getting and receiving support will help you so much as you reach all of your many goals.

I'm in Sacramento, so I'm not too far from you! I also know there is a SoCal support group here so check the Groups page to find it. They do meet ups and are a very good group of people. :) Chime in a lot and of course if you ever need anything, I'm always happy to assist. All the best to you!!

SML1997, I am right there with you. I just finished my Options classes in Corona a week before you did. I have my medical interview on the 20th, and just stucking in limbo until then. I am pretty confident that I won't have anything to worry about but of course it's that not knowing part that bugs  but what can you do? Please let us know how your appointment goes, always good to have someone going through the same process as I am.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
