I will be 5 weeks out tomorrow and I eat regular foods. I get my Protein from solid Proteins. I drink at least 64 oz of Water and I eat tuna with lite or no fat mayo, extra lean groud beef, lots of veggies like broccoli, green Beans, peas, occassional carrots, flaky fish, tomatoes, salad with fat free low cal dressing or vinegar and oil, yogurt, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, sugar free fudgesicles for when I want chocolate, extra thin turkey breast lunch meat, fat free cheese, sugar free lemon ice tea with no caffeine, hot green tea with splenda and no caffeine. I plan to try chicken next as I would love to add that to my salad. I hope this helps!

you've really lost 56 lbs in a month? wouldn't that amount be unhealthy?

I seem to be answering this question alot lately. YES I have lost 56 lbs in a month and NO it isnt unhealthy. My Doctor is keeping a very good eye on me and I only weigh in at his office. I am a High Weight High BMI patient so it is normal for me to be dropping the weight because of the lower calories I am consuming and that I exercise everyday. I hope that answers your question, please feel free to ask me anything.

I am enjoying the low calorie 300 to 350 frozen meals that left me starving before being banded. My favorites are rice/beans/sour cream ,corn pudding, and escalloped chicken casserole.

I also enjoy full flavored Soups . Favs are bean with bacon and new england chowder.

good luck

I am not a calorie counter. I am 5 weeks out and there is nothing that I can't eat. I also enjoy a diet soda every day. I have lost 20 lbs. since banding, so I'm apparently doing the right things. Your weight loss is amazing. It could be that if you are bigger you lose a lot faster...I have no clue on this one. Your loss is magnificent and I applaud you. I only spent a few days on liquids, advanced to mushies and onto solids. I obviously don't have a lot of restriction because I can take all my pills in one handful. I can also eat anything (although I don't eat much of it). I truly believe psychologically at least the band is doing the job. My problems may increase two-fold when I get my first fill on the 19th. We shall see :D My dr. OK'ed the diet drinks...said if they didn't cause me gas go for it. I've never had a gas pain, even after surgery.

I wish you the best of luck. You are off to an awesome start. I would definitely just follow the guidelines your surgeon gives you as everyone is different.

Best of luck to you

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
