Egd On Friday...one Step Closer!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everybody!

I have done a couple posts, but I am getting excited because it is only a matter of time before my information gets turned over to my insurance. I have had my initial surgical consult, NUT eval, and psych eval and will be having an EGD on Friday. I'm a little nervous, but my husband's an ICU nurse and has been filling me in on everything. This is the first time I will be under anesthesia, ever!

Anyways, after Friday, they will send the info to my insurance and there is a small possibility that they will require me to do a three month, NUT supervised diet. I, of course, am hoping that I don't have to wait that long but I am willing to jump through all of these hoops to get this done! Make room on the loser's bench!

Nothing profound or life-changing here...Just an update! lol

I know how you feel.....recently (5/29) I had surgery to have the band put in but due to an artery in the wrong place they couldn't do it. That was my 1st time under as well. I was very nervous but it was a quick recovery in regards that I had surgery but not completely.

I do have to say I believe it was a blessing in disquise. I am nervous to go with a different option but looking forward to getting on with my life in a more productive way.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
