I must admit this is a little harder than I anticipated. I had terrible nausea and dry heaves for the first day and a half. Now I am just working with the acid reflux and sleeve spasms. Please tell me it gets better!

Sweety, it gets better. focus on yourself only. take small sips don't worry so much about the Protein, walk a little bit, sip. I'm 10 days out and I still am tired, I'm still sore, but I got the drain out yesterday and am already feeling like I'm crossing some hurdle. I questioned my decision once a day since the day after surgery. Day 1 I was a rock star, I walked like 5 times, day 2 was my hardest day. For the next week or so you are going to have ups and downs, just bear with it and it will get easier.

Yes things will get better - really they will -

But you now have a life sentence with the sleeve. But don't worry, the life will be good.

This is a totally new style of living, and eating. The expression "Live to eat" or "Eat to Live" is very true. I used to be in the first catagory.

Life will change for you - and you will be healthier and feel better, and getting a little slimmer is a plus too.

take care

best of luck

kathy

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
