I am new to lapband talk and I been reading this site for a few weeks now, and what everyone had to say, it's help me alot to think about what I need to do after the surgery and what foods are good to eat after wards. So now I think i am ready to make this Journey to a new life. I am glad to know I have a place to come to if I have any questions or concerns after i have this done wish me luck I get banned on September 1, 2006 Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :)

Thanks

Hi!

I'm in Texas, too!

Just wanna say good luck, and congratulations to you!

LBT is a great place for info and support...just skip past the family squabbles that pop up here and there...and ask anything you need to know!

Also, use the "search" feature located on the top of the page, across the top, where "User CP" is on the left. That way you can find info you need that has already been posted!

Nice to meet you!

Cindy

Welcome to LBT, soon you will be banded--how exciting!! Are any of these places in Texas anywhere near Comanche? A small place not far from Brownwood, or Temple. We are there several times a year.

Good Luck with your surgery, and your recovery!

Kat

Hello , I do not know what to do here but here goes.

I'm scheduled to be banded September 8th. I have been lurking for about a month now. I must say all of you are very informative. I truly enjoy this forum and you all have made me very relaxed. September 8th at 10AM. I am a little nervous but nothing like I was before I found you guys!

I guess I should have told you all I am in Wichita Falls Texas. My surgery will be here and will be done by Dr. Brett May. I am a self pay. My insurance wouldn't cover this but I figure if I want to live I will find a way to get it done.

Welcome TexasBr@t and valgal from another Texan. Lots of us here. I'm grateful that we have a bunch of great band surgeons in our state. I'm pretty new myself and still learning about how my band act (or acts up!).

Stay in touch.

Terry :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
