Post-Op Cravings And Discouraged!

So I am 9 days post op. I am happy with my decision, but am finding it hard to not eat!! I have to make breakfast, lunch and dinner for my kids daily, and I find myself wanting what they are eating, not this "full-liquid stage" stuff anymore!! I know the food stages and guidelines are there for a reason, but man, I just want something of substance to chew on and eat!! Any advice/thoughts?

I know it's tough. My wife and I are 5 days out and thank god we have her mom here taking care of the kids and feeding them. Just gotta grind it out.

  • Why even comment if it's gonna be patronizing?? Not everyone will feel the exact same effect as the next person and if someone needs support that's what this forum is for and not for comments like thi

I'm almost a year out and my saving grace was instant mashed potato with a bit of fat free shredded cheddar....once you get on your mushies that will be like heaven for you! In the days of liquids my

What helps me is that I made sure that I had my protein drink before preparing food for my family. It helped a lot. ;)

Having my protein drink before making their meals sounds like a good idea. I' counting the days til I can have some fruit and yogurt...only 4 more days!

You are a strong woman Melissa....so you can do this! I know I don't know you, but I think that any of us overweight people that love food and has this surgery has to have some amazing strength. When you get to have that fruit and yogurt you will enjoy it 10x more since you know you are having it at the right time. Good Luck :)

Well I am 8 days out and I am on soft foods when do you start?

I am EXACTLY where you are, and I too a freaking hungry! Hardest thing ever!

Day 7 for me. I'm hungry! I want real food. It feels like emotional torture. I will make it through, but it's going to be tough. So sorry for your cravings. You are not alone, nor misunderstood.
how are you hungry after this surgery. the pouch is so small and you get full fast. try drinking your 2 oz of Water so youcan feel full

Head hunger. We are food addicts(most of us) we have an unhealthy view of food.

I am preop, so I have no idea what you are going through, but I will still be on clears 9 days post op, consider the alternative.

I am 10 days out and Tuesday the doctor moved me to soft foods, I guess every doctor is different.

I really needed. Move to the soft foods, I had no energy and was weak.

Today I had a whole bag of oat meal, protien shake, maybe 3 oz of tuna, dinner scrambled egg and a half a piece of sausage.

Cody is sausage a soft ? I can't believe you ate all that at 10 days out. Too me, I wouldn't have been able to eat 1/4th of that amount. Please be careful you don't bust your sleeve open, your still healing. :)

I'm at 7 days out and moved to mushy stuff. I had about 4oz of grits, a protein shake, chicken broth , and a creamy soup my wife makes with a root veggie similar to mash potatoes but soupy. All the portions were no more than 6 oz and I felt full each time.

Sausage and tuna count as soft food? Seems like they would be tough on a 10 day old sleeve.
