Increase Your Chances of a Good Fill

Recommended Posts

I am in a delema with my band, things get stuck but I am not getting feeling full. So I am eating very slowly and if it does not feel bad I will eat to much (or what I think is too much) maybe a cup and half of food. Not losing weight or feeling full. I don't know if a fill is in order or what? I know when I first got this fill I was full with very little food eaten. Anyone else like this? In other words feeling tight but not full?

Carol...it may be that you are trying to eat things that your band just isn't into - to paraphrase a popular book on relationships. I realize that the ideal is to be able to eat ANYTHING, just in smaller quantities. That, unfortunately, is not the reality for most people.

A cup and a half of food is not too much. I would say it's just about perfect. I can eat about 6 oz of really solid Protein - prime rib or fish, for example, but I can eat about 3 times that much of chili, chunky stew, etc. I can't eat bread, cake/cookies, Pasta, rice, potatoes, fruit with skin or Fiber, many veggies, and some other stuff.

Thanks for the info, I get my fill today at 2:30 pm and I wish I had read it before I ate my Protein Bar. I won't eat anything else before I go in. I am 4 weeks out from surgery and gaining this week so I think I am ready for this fill. I can't wait to feel some restriction and start losing again. I also feel like someone slipped me a Water pill, I have been peeing all morning. Candy/329

Sweetsue,

Thank you for posting this. I read your post yesterday, and I was having a fill today. However, my time of the month came and I called my surgeon and asked if I should have a fill. He did not want me having a fill during my period. He reschedule me for next week.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
