I just ate a entire can of broth no problem but very slowly. Feel full not stuffed. I thought we were not able to take in that much. Please tell me it's because it's a slider. I wonder if my sleeve is working. I'm freaking out!

It's not a slider cuz its a liquid. Sliders are foods that are not too great for you that allow you to eat a lot of it. Like chips and stuff. Nothing wrong with drinking the broth ( except the salt content) cuz its liquid and liquids are good.

Thank you so much for the reply. I'm a week out and seem like I can take in more then everyone else. I'm scared and do not want to fail!!

Yea you won't feel the restriction as much just drinking the liquids. They go right down. Take advantage of that because you need as much liquids as you possibly can get now! It's so important. Believe me when u start solids you will notice ! Good luck :)

Jdhenin: Thank you SO much for telling me that!! I was about ready to start crying. Imagine... In my 40's and crying over a can of Soup. I just don't want to fail and let myself and my family down. You have made me feel much better!!

I had the exact same worry. Trust me you'll feel it when you eat solids. I still can barely eat a few Tbs and I'm four months out.

Hang on guys...you forgot about me! I felt just like gr8fun does and was worried, too. Now I'm 4 1/2 weeks out, I find that I can hold a lot more food than a lot of you guys. I just make an effort to put my food on a small plate, leave spaces between each food, and stick to Protein first, then veg, then starch. You'll know for sure that your sleeve is working if you accidentally eat just one bite too many, gr8. The sick, slimy feeling we get if we aggravate our sleeves helps you learn when to quit.

I was super nervous the first few days/weeks when I could drink broth easily and fit in all my Protein shakes without issue- and lots of people on this forum could barely finish a single shake. I was like "did I even get sleeved?" :)

Now @ 7weeks, I am drinking a 20oz diet Lipton Iced Tea in about an hour no problem- and then do it again in another hour. When I had my 2oz of chicken breast it was enough to keep me full for 5+ hours!

Keep in mind that your stomach may feel somewhat different daily. Yesterday I was able to eat 2oz of pork, a few broccoli spears and a fun size dark chocolate for a meal and this morning I felt stuffed after 1/2 a soft boiled egg!

Good point, CaliKat. I can eat a full meal on a little plate, but it keeps me full for hours!

I seem to be eating lots of meats. I miss veggies. Frozen yogurt is easy going down and high in protien. Sliders will just have to take will power. If I allow myself I can eat an entire piece of cake with a whipped cream frosting. :(

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
