3 Lbs Down In One Day?!

Recommended Posts

So I am 6 days post-op and I decided to weigh myself yesterday. The scale said 259. Well this morning, I weighed 256! I know I just had sugery and all, but I am not even bloated nor do I have gas. Is this normal? I have not started back to the gym yet.

yes, I had some drops of about 3lbs overnight too! Also gained 1lb at 10days post op, so don't freak out if that happens either!

Well according to both of my scales I dropped 10 pounds since yesterday...I am certain that new batteries are needed...cause that is a MAJOR drop...lol...is it wrong that I am praying that it is true and accurate though? lol

Its probably true. Your body decides to let go of Water when it wants too and it decided to take a nose dive! Some weeks you will have big losses and some none at all. Its an average and you are coming off a gain from your TOM so its probably just adjusting for that. Dont worry, be Happy!

You will be AMAZED at what your body can and will do. You will also be frustrated by it at times, so be prepared, but you will, overall, be going down, down, down! If you weigh every day (like I do, and also tell everyone NOT to...) you will see little bounces up and big bounces down. It is all normal. Enjoy the ride! :)

I would LOVE for the 10.6 pound drop to actually be true! It puts me a mere 4 pounds away from my Memorial Day goal! I will TOTALLY take that!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
