Recommended Posts

I haven't lost any weight this week. I am seven days post op today and am only down the weight i dropped for the pre op diet. Is that normal? :( I'm kind of bummed.

There are a lot of factors that go into us losing. Your body could be hanging on to some surgical gas still and is probably still somewhat swollen from surgery. Just keep following your diet plan and things will happen soon! Everyone loses at different rates.

My Dr says that they pump about 10lbs of Fluid into you and you hang onto it for at least a week so don't feel discouraged. I don't expect my weight to come off quickly, its no different than a regular diet other than the fact that I can't eat away my sorrows when that scale doesn't move. Eventually it will move as long as you stay on the plan.

Yup, was totally normal for me. I gained weight in the hospital after my surgery!!! It took me two weeks to lose what I gained just from having the surgery. You will be glad to have those fluids in your system though because I bet you are not drinking a ton yet. Hang in there. I felt the same exact way, but it will leave your body. You will lose. Just follow your doctors eating plan. Congrats on getting sleeved!

I actually gained the week after my surgery then I lost it again. I contributed it to the IV fluids and swelling due to the surgery. I wouldn't worry about it. It will come off again.

They pumped 10-12 pounds of IV Fluid in me while I was in the hospital. It took me more than a week to just get back to the weight that I was when I went in. I also had the three week stall and IVs 6 more times, so my early weight loss was a constant roller coaster ride! You'll be fine, don't stress it. Don't want to lose those fluids too fast or you'll end up like me; with a needle in your arm every other day :o

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
