I feel the same, met plenty that knows someone that knows someone ect... but never met anyone personally, so your welcome to come and meet me and then we can help and mentor each other, I am on face book under my name if you wish to add me, if you have Face book of course.

I found Dr Dolan funny and charming also, and he told me I could have my band re-done but he added he could tell I was not happy with it and gave me all the info on the sleeve, which I had already research any way. I feel it would be the best for me, I had the band (not done by him) for 2 years and had a few problems with it.. so was not going back there.. :)

I was sleeved by Dr Dolan 2 weeks ago at Glengarry. He is an awesome doctor & very good at what he does. He is the only Doctor I know that staples your sleeve but sews over as well to prevent leaks. he did an amazing job on me, my incisions are healing very nicely & In a few months wont be able to be seen - he is very neat. I cannot recommend him highly enough!!! I am happy to answer an questions anyone has but you will not be disappointed by Dr Dolan ... he has changed my life! :)

Weight_no_longer and Julez, how are things going? Had some excitement with Glengarry Hospital today. They couldn't find my forms. Turns out they file them by date and had them in Oct still. Everything is sorted and I am due there for 6.30am on Friday. A long drive to the north but hubby is driving so I can silently sit and freak out. Turns out I have to pay $100 excess that HBF didn't indicate but that is okay, a small price to pay.

Hope you are both doing great!

hi JLS Ive been doing ok except feel a bit crap over the last couple days, I think maybe have a flu coming on but going to see my Doc tomorrow just to be sure. Im glad everything got sorted at the hospital for you. I had to pay $500 out of pocket when i got to the hospital which was a bit of a shock but Im glad Ive had the op so its all worth it. I have no appetite anymore, sometimes I feel like I want something but then cant eat it so the weight is definitely coming off. Best wishes to you for the surgery, you are in good hands & before you know it you will be a loser also lol. Please update us when you feel up to it. Id love to hear how it all goes for you :)

Hi all, it's great to hear so many happy people about Dr Dolan, I get sleeved on 11th dec and getting really nervous, I don't dee the nutritionist until 4 days prior. Did anyone question having optislim instead of Optifast at all? So glad I have Dr Dolan

I used optislim instead of Optifast. I was not told which one to use. I just brought the optislim as it was cheaper. Good luck on your journey.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
