I my surgeon says I have to crush all my meds. The bad part is I have a UTI and really need to take some AZO Standard for the discomfort but that med can't be crushed! Ugh! This sucks.

I had a wound infection and my doctor said I didn't have to crush my pills I would be fine. I was fine so I took my other pills and ibuprofen with no problems. I was 2 weeks post op. I'm 5 weeks out now. Hope you feel better soon.

Aren't AZO tiny little pills? My rule of thumb was that smaller than an m&m I could swallow. Anything bigger had to be crushed.

I followed the same rules as Lissa, and was just fine.

I have a pills question too. Does it get easier to swallow them?!

My gosh, I have to take 3 regular meds in the morning (all smaller than an m&m), so swallow them with Water, but it makes me gag as I can only sip & not gulp them down. Will I just get used to it eventually. I swear, it is the only bad thing so far with my post-op recovery! I hate taking my pills!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
