I often wonder post surgery ... Like a month or two into it.. Am i ever going to be able to sit and have a nice meal with my family and husband... Or am I just going to be drinking Protein shakes.. And also I heard you should not drink soda pop when you have a sleeve .. I don't know what i will do without my diet pepsi!!

Wean yourself off it now and caffeine, is the best advice I can give you. You don't want to do a pre-op liquid diet and have to go through withdrawals then or after surgery. It will make it worse or help set you up for more issues in the long run.

I miss Seltzer Water, caffeine, but I quit it before I had to go on my pre-op diet next week and I am hoping it will help.

Danity, I hope every day you start feeling better. I was told already by my Doctor and Nurse not to weight myself for the first two weeks. Why put myself through it, almost everyone gains weight at first from the IV, gas and bloating.

Before this week if anyone had aske me if I thought my my life revolve around food I would have said no. But after a lot of self reflection these past couple of days I have realized that I AM a food addict and a total foodie. All I have been thinking about this week is sushi and wine and food. I can't wait until I can start doing some major exercise so I can change my focus. I want to go back to spinning class at the Golds Gym. Those classes are amazing and a huge adrenaline rush. :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
