Hey ya'll,

I've been running fever too for the last few days. I was banded on the 28th of May. Don't really feel badly, just chills and sweating like a mule when it breaks.

One thing that I wondered about was if anyone else had significant bruising down at the pelvic area following surgery.

I know it's blood products from surgery, but how do they migrate down there?!

I have a couple of questions for you: Have you taken your temperature? It is important that you do so. It sounds as though you might have more than the usual low-grade fever to me. Certainly liquid tylenol should help with the fever, but don't take it if you are also taking Vicodin or other pain meds because they most likely have acetaminophen in them already. Also, do you know for sure that you were given blood during your surgery? This would be highly unusual. But I wouldn't really be surprised at any bruising anywhere so soon after surgery. It may be due to positioning during surgery or jostling getting you on and off the operating table. I do hope you feel better soon, though.

Nancy

The "bruising" is, I believe, from bleeding under the skin during the proceedure and the blood collects in pockets until your body breaks them down. The area is directly over my pubic bone and directly below one of the hip bones,( the ones that will hopefully be visible in the not too distant future!) Anybody else have this?

Oh yeah, my fever is low grade, 99.4, but I usually run below normal at around 97.8. I guess my real concern is that I had gotten sick after surgery. My husband started as soon as we got to Monterrey with nausea and diahrrea. So, I had to follow in his footsteps. Yuck yuck!

I did a little dry heaving after surgery and none of the drugs that they gave me would stop it. The docs were amazingly attentive and even came to the hotel at 1:30 in the morning to help me.

I am a little worried that I may have torn a suture or something, and it bled inside.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
