Sandranoelle - Congrats! 32 to a 26 is a huge accomplishment! I don't think what you said is stupid - I think it's a great idea. The support of others is what has kept me chugging along. This road has not been easy!

In the beginning the weight came of faster then it is now and it can be hard to stay focused when it is coming off so slowly. I too could use all the support I can get so count me in!

MoM: Glad to see you back! What kind of job are you looking for? I too may be doing the same thing soon... waiting on news of our hostile takeover and will then find out my fate.

I think everyone has a touch of the after Christmas, winter-blues. I know that at least in Utah we are sick sick sick of the winter! On the news the other day, they said that Monday was known as Black Monday. The most depressing day of the year! The news said that people were getting their Christmas bills in, giving up on the New Year's resolutions and tired of the winter. Does that sound familiar? Well, at least one of our resolutions won't be completely broken. We can do this weight loss thing. We've got the tool, the support and the will power. Even if we're on a plateau, we will lose weight. How's that for a pep talk?!

kareyquilts: That's a good pep talk. You forgot to mention IRS taxes looming too. :tired

At least if we're cutting back on food - especially fast food - we'll be saving money! That's a biggie in the plus column.

You're right! Even a plateau isn't a gain and we do have the tool we need to get new resolve. We're way farther ahead of the game than we were in the past!

Rah, rah, ree

Hit 'em in the knee,

rah, rah, rass

hit 'em in the other knee.

Ooh. My knees didn't like the sound of that one! LOL

Only cheer I could come up with on such short notice. :embarassed:

Seriously, you make good points and it has made me want to get up, back away from this computer, move around and burn some calories! :clap2:

Hi September Bandsters!

I haven't checked in for a while...just busy. I'm looking for a job, too, MOM! I haven't worked outside of the home in 20 years, but my baby is 16, driving, and sure doesn't need me anymore. :think

But, of course, that means I have to have clothes!! aaahhhh I don't have enough casual clothes right now, let alone career clothes. So, I've been doing some shopping (in the MISSES section!!!). Love the fact that everything is on sale right now. I went to Kohls, and got three complete 3 pc. outfits, 2 pairs of shoes, and 4 tops for my daughter and spent barely over $200.00. Can't beat that with a stick!

I have been struggling lately with food, and won't post what I've eaten, 'cause I don't want anyone to think, "hmm, *that* sounds good, maybe I'll have one, too!" Let's just say, I have *not* had a good week food-wise. I'm going for a fill this afternoon. I still have mixed feelings about it, because I really do not want to get overfilled. I keep asking myself whether my hunger and poor food choices are due to my fat mind, or if it's because I need a fill.

On the positive side, I have been exercising. Plus, I feel awesome in my new clothes. My daughter and I went to a mother/daughter bunco game last night with all her friends and their mom's, and people were just amazed at the difference. I was beaming all night. Oh, and better yet, I avoided the wine! I love my wine, and usually look forward to social situations like this when I can justify a glass or two. But, I stuck with my bottled Water, and pushed the dishes of M & M's to the far side of the table!

Hope everyone is doing well. April, how's it going since the unfill? Keep us posted.

Thanks, ya'll for being here. Sandy, I agree...we need each other to lift us up when we're down, and to Celebrate our successes! I love this group. You guys are an inspiration!

Tami: I knew you were talking about a fill soon. I was too. I got mine Tuesday. I am not at all overfilled. I forgot to ask him exactly how much he added, but I do not have the wild cravings that I was having. Since the fill I've been doing much better. It hasn't kept me from eating anything though, that I've tried.

So don't be afraid. Be sure to tell them of your fears. I did and I think that's why I am not overfilled.

Good luck! I hope it helps take care of those crazy cravings! You're doing so well!

Congratulations on your fantastic NSVs!

I really want another fill but it's not for the right reasons. I like how I lose 5-7lbs the week following a fill and ususally 3-5 the week following that. a fill seems to kick me back into gear and I stop eating crap (as I shove an peanut M&M in my yap) and refocus. What stops me from making a fill appointment is I still have a reasonable amount of restriction and I don't want to overfill and slip but what sucks is my restriction is not consistant:(

I saw my surgeon this afternoon for the first time since surgery. He seemed very pleased with my progress, and asked all kinds of questions about how *I* did it. I told him that I give credit to the band, and to the surgeon who placed it! (And eating healthy and exercising, of course.) Then, the fill nurse came in to do my fill, and asked me if I'd consider doing a commercial for them in a couple of months! *That's* the best compliment I've had since starting this process!

She added .25, so I'm back up to 1.5. She said it's unusual to have restriction at this level, and even said that I should come back in two weeks, if I don't feel like it's tight enough! And here I was worried that I might be jumping the gun in getting another one now.

TAMI...A commercial, that's AWESOME. To think of all the people who he has banded that you stick out. You Rock! I have been having the same issues with having a fill. I felt like I shouid have gotton one at my last appointment, and I didn't. I have an appointment next Tuesday. I stepped on the scale this morning and I thought it was bad when I didn't lose a pound on Monday but today it says I've gained 4 pounds. YIKES! I have alot to do before Monday. I have been exercising almost every day, it is obvious it's bad food choices. I wonder if they have a band to put around my brain instead of my stomach. Well, I'm done whinning now, congratulations to everyone on their scale and NSV this week.

rms78645: Congratulations on your surgery. I thought perhaps you hadn't had it yet.

Everything going well for you so far?

I actually lost most of the weight before I got my first fill. The post surgery diet did a lot. I haven't lost nearly as quickly since everything is healed and the swelling is gone.

How much do you weigh and what's your goal?

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
