Has Anyone Had Caffeinated Coffee @ 3 Wks Out?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 4/20. I haven't had coffee in over a month but today I'm exhausted (my 2 year-old was scared of thunderstorms all night). I am tempted to have a small cup. My food list says only Decaf but I saw a girl in a YouTube blog that had been drinking coffee since a few days out.

Just curious, has anybody else had coffee this early?

I had coffee 2 weeks out and did fine. Caffeine was not restricted on my post op diet. This seems to be one of those things that each doctor is different on. I drink my coffee with fat free milk and no sugar.

I have drank coffee since 1 week out. Not a lot, just a cup on those days when my energy level was so low I couldn't function. I have had NO issues at all...in fact on those days that I do have a cup it helps move my bowels along and the next day I have a loss....

I had caffeinated tea about three weeks out and it messed up my sleeve for the entire day! At 6 weeks I tried drinking coffee (needed a pick me up after a late night) and it was ok. I now have a cup of coffee here and there without any issues. I guess at three weeks my stomach was not prepared for it, but after three more weeks of healing it did just fine.

I tried it both at 2 and 3-months out. I hated the taste. However,I had cuban coffee all last week and LOVED IT! I'm almost 5-months out at this point.

My food list also says Decaf, however the dr said that's only because caffeine can cause dehydration. I'd say as long as you're conscious of this, so up your Water intake for the day, and you're sleeve handles the coffee ok, it shouldn't be an issue.

I am a coffee addict in that my morning latte is something that I always have, and I started having it again at about three weeks out. My barriatric program strictly prohibits coffee but allows for tea. I have to say the nurses/nutritionists seemed to delight in telling everyone in our group that they couldn't have coffee and laughed at everyone's reaction. That kind of annoyed me.

Anyway, I started alternating between coffee and tea in the morning because of two reasons: one, the coffee didn't taste as good to me anymore for some reason; and, two, the acid in my stomach while drinking it was really loud and was possibly upsetting my stomach.

Now, I do have a lot of acid in my stomach to begin with and have to take one Prilosec every day, and I'm thinking of increasing it to two Prilosec because of the acid that I have at night, but I have to check with my doctor first.

The reason that my barriatric's office nurses don't want us to drink coffee is because it is acidic, but frankly, tea is acidic too and so is orange juice, etc. There is also a possibility that I have become lactose intolerant, and so the milk in the latte might be causing a problem also; however, milk is a great source of Protein, and so I say have milk with your coffee. I have 1% or 2% organic milk.

My Dr said I could drink coffee no problem, so I have been drinking it since aboutn 4 days post-op. I have 2 cups every morning with skim milk and Truvia. Thank goodness it was one thing I love that I didn't have to give up!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
