Help, I Just Don't Understand!

Recommended Posts

I am very frustrated because I can't seem to stop eating carbs and sweets. I just can't keep them out of my mouth! lol... but really, the dumb scale says I've gained 2lbs in the past week. I started working out 3 weeks ago and scale still doesn't move. I just don't understand, if someone has Myfitness pal, look at my logs, what am I doing wrong?? I wouldn't stress so much, but I want to win the weight loss pool at work. Any suggestions welcomed. I am really thinking about doing the 5 day pouch test, but hate to do liquids because I don't drink Protein drinks, hate them with a passion. I currently eat Protein Bars instead. Help please!!

for me, if I don't buy them and have them around me..then I won't consume them. No carb is the best way to maximize the weight loss. No sugar, no processed white flour, and no carbonated beverages. If write down your weight on a calender on the same day each week, you'll see the benefit of having a healthy week. This makes me want to turn in a better number week after week. Monday's are my "log" days on my wall calendar. Turned out to be a great motovator

There are a few different kinds liquid Protein that you can add to your Water

Sunkist Protein they come in 25 and 42 grams protein zero fat and zero sugar

New whey Liquid Protein they come in 25 and 42 grams protein zero fat and zero sugar

I got mine at the Vitamin store you can get them at Amazon too or online with someone

The taste good as long as you add them to Water otherwise I thought they were to sweet.

First off.....Dont beat yourself up! The popular saying round here is they remove your stomach, not the brain that craves the food!

Its gonna take a while for you to have a happy relationship with those "nasty" carbs and sugars.

That being said, I refuse to go hardcore with my diet- I accept that I am going to have to figure out what works for me and rock it that way.

If you like your occational chocolate or enjoy those pringles (and if you are far enough along) DO IT- but do it in MODERATION!

Have intake goals for yourself- Protein, calories, sugars, carbs, etc- but make sure the excercise balances out the intake.

Yesterday I had a slice of smoked gouda cheese and a piece of dark chocolate- 300 calories just in that!!! So I busted my tush at the gym last night and burned 600.

If you have a craving- indulge in it- in moderation and make up for it in the gym, bedroom, whatever.....

Also keep in mind that if you are working out, you are building muscle- which weighs more than fat- and you could be seeing a scale slowdown because of that.

Dont stress, drink lots of Water and it will happen. :)

thank you all for the tips and encouragement! I try not to stress but that darn scale gets the best of me some days. I feel and look better than ever and I am very proud to have lost a total of 85 lbs already (lapband and sleeve combined). I just really want to win the contest need the $$ and I only have 2 weeks to loose some lbs!!

I just remembered I have the Syntrax Protein Drinks, I need to get back on them.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
