I Just Don't Want To...

Recommended Posts

Eat. I don't know what my problem is. I do get hungry, but everything I try for the last few days makes me feel like s#!%. I'm not sure how to remedy this, but I'm not losing at all -not an ounce all week & only 1# last week- and I feel like I'm stumped! Yesterday I tried a taco w/o the shell & threw up. Tried a salad w/ cheese & almonds, thinking maybe the meat was bothering me, but the salad made me super naseaus so I went to bed. The other day I had my absolute favorite salad w/ chicken & felt so-so, but when I tried to eat the rest for dinner I felt like I was going to throw up. Ditto the next day w/ seared tuna. I feel fine unless I'm trying to eat. Im definitely not sick. My morning coffee w/ half&half doesn't bother me & I've had a Protein Shake which goes ok. I just don't want to eat! I'm forcing myself. Today all I've had is coffee, a few cashews & half of a muscle milk light. Everything sounds gross & makes me feel gross.

I'm a little over 3 mos out (1/28/12) & I've lost 61#, but 35 of that was the first month post-op. I know if I was eating more calories I'd probably be losing better. Anyone been through this? Any advice?

It sounds to me like something you ate irritated your sleeve and now it's acting up. It has happened a couple of times to me and I just go back to Protein Shakes and other liquids, no solids at all, for a day or two and then eat something I know won't bother it--for me, that's seafood. I have a scallop or two at each meal, eaten really slowly so I can monitor how it is sitting, and then the next day I'm fine.

I haven't had that problem. I don't want to eat, but it's just because I am not hungry! It also sounds like to me that you are having some irritation, so I would suggest sticking to liquids. Get your calories and Protein that way...just like you are on your pre-op/post op diet. Try that for a few days and then see if you can eat solids again.

I hope it gets better! :)

I actually came to this forum today to find out if others had this problem too. I have absolutely no appetite. I force myself to eat but I do t really have the desire. I'm down 42 # including pre op loss of13. Surgery was March 27. I feel good ,ost of the time tho of course I do tire easily. Last week when I went back to work, I lost 6 pounds. My doc says 4lbs per week. This week I have not lost anything yet. So I guess my question is: is this normal not to have an appetite?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
