I was put on mushies on my day 7 post op apt. I slowly added things one by one until I started getting adventurous again with food. By week 3 I was at about 5 bites of soft solids like fish and broi

I was on 1 week clear, 3 weeks full liquid with protein shakes and 1 week pureed. I'm 6 weeks out and I am still doing mushies.

im doing 2weeks liquids

and 2weeks pureed

& so on

I think every Dr is different. I was on 1 week clear, not even protein, right now on 3 weeks of full liquids. I've not really seen too many with the same diet on here unless they've used the same dr.

Well I eat little things already once a day that are cheating. But I mostly have protein shakes, gatorade, yogurt, water, and the things I cheat with are bites of chicken, 2 or 3 noodles, etc... I chew like 50 times. I may be crazy but the drinks and yogurt make my sleeve hurt but the real food I cheat with always goes down perfectly fine. Hmm. I'm 9 days out

This post-op diet varies soooooo much, it seems.

I am 8 days post op.

I never had to fast two weeks prior. I am on 6 oz Ensure daily with unlimited clear liquids for two weeks. Then two weeks soft foods. Then on to solids.

This two weeks is miserable!!!!! I can't imagine if I had to do this two weeks prior to surgery as well. I'd have jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge by now :-p

I was on full liquids when I got home from the hospital. That was two weeks then two on pureed.

I just had my 5 day post op apt with the surgeon today and they moved me to puree's already! I am kinda nervouse...

I was on clear liquid for 1 week then full liquids. I saw my surgeon on monday and he told me to eat soft foods but to start eating to see what I can tolerate. My nutritionist told me 2 week clears, 2 week full liquid then 4 weeks mush. So, I do a little of everything. I typically will do a protein shake in the morning, lunch is usually tuna or chicken salad our egg salad with special k crackers another protein shake, then at dinner I will do a healthy choice which I can only do a few bites of our a white flaky fish. No pastas, no breads though. I do liquid like crystal light throughout the day. Apparently everyone is different.

Sorry it posted twice, damn phone...lol

Two days after surgery the hospital started me on puréed foods. I was told to stay on puréed diet until my first post op appointment mid-May. I couldn't get anything down the first few days but now i eat lentil and / or black bean soups everyday, yogurt, cream of wheat and protein shakes all day. I take in over 100 g of protein each day but I am concerned that I'm doing too much too soon.

I am 5 days post-op. I'm 1 week clear liquids, I can hardly get my water or protein in. I'm not hungry at all but very weak and have had a constant headache. Caffeine withdraws for sure. Monday I start 2 weeks full liquids and I think I will feel better when I can have drinkable yogurt smoothies SF of course, cottage cheese, creamed soups, egg custard and pudding. My 3rd phase I start soft moist food to see what I can tolerate. I tried to eat a sf jello tonight and 2 bites I felt sick and thought to myself did I even chew the jello. It's a whole new way of life.

I was on 2 weeks full liquids my dr said anything you can drink through a staw and 3 weeks pureed food next week solids

By week 3 I was at about 5 bites of soft solids like fish and broiled chicken cut chicken salad size.

I am 8 months post op and I average 15 bites per solid meal and about 16 ounces when I have my shakes.

If you want some ideas for mushies and other soft foods to graduate to check out the world according to eggface blog. She is fantastic and even though I fancy myself a pretty innovative cook she is my foodie mentor. I do change some of her ingredients because I no longer use milk or soy products.

If you want to learn more tips and tricks from an 8 month-er that has learned a lot send me a message. I am also a skype coach that helps with menu planning and support via phone, skype and in person here in Tampa.

Talk to you soon!
