  1. I'm 7 weeks post op and I have been going out with friends and they don't know about my WLS. I have been able to have a glass of wine, and I order a smaller plate or soup and enjoy the conversation. I eat really slow and know one has said anything. Do a test run by yourself and see how you do. Good luck!
  2. I too have had a hard time with gas and acid reflux ( burning in chest and throat). My Dr. Told me I could take 2 Prilosec OTC twice a day and Zantac 150 twice a day and gas x strips when needed. I am so much better. Our tummys (sleeves are swollen) and can't dump the acid and it comes up. This is different feeling than the heartburn or acid reflux from over eating. It feels like heart attack pain. Hang in there. It will get better.
  3. I just noticed your posting date. Poppa. How are you doing?
  4. I too would use Dr Alvarez even if My insurance would pay. Susan is wonderful, Jessica & Jesus were wonderful on taking care of us. They speak English and are on call to the patients 24/7. Anything we need they tell the nurses. I woke up with my back hurting, I have back issues. And Dr. Alvarez kept me pain free and came in to check on me at least 2-3 times a day and his fellow Dr. Checked on me in the evening. He is the best and trust him 100%! How is your pre-op diet coming?
  5. Dr. Alvarez is a wonderful doctor. I was sleeved April 28th and I am doing great. He emails to see how you are doing with your change of phase diet instructions. My sister is getting sleeved June 25th by Dr. A.
  6. I was sleeved by Dr. Alvarez on April 28th and he is wonderful. I am very happy and my sister will be sleeved by him late June. She was very impressed when she went with me. I would recommend Dr. A to anyone. I am doing great. Down 21 pounds since surgery.
  7. I am 25 days post op and am on mushies. I can eat half of one scrambled egg and i don't feel terrible but feel I could be sick if I ate one more bite. I made tunafish yesterday with a boiled egg in it and I can't do the tuna. I loved my moms tunafish pre op and am bummed this good protein doesn't sit well with me.
  8. I too starting using a straw 7 days post op. I am now getting in my water and feeling better.
  9. I am 5 days post-op. I'm 1 week clear liquids, I can hardly get my water or protein in. I'm not hungry at all but very weak and have had a constant headache. Caffeine withdraws for sure. Monday I start 2 weeks full liquids and I think I will feel better when I can have drinkable yogurt smoothies SF of course, cottage cheese, creamed soups, egg custard and pudding. My 3rd phase I start soft moist food to see what I can tolerate. I tried to eat a sf jello tonight and 2 bites I felt sick and thought to myself did I even chew the jello. It's a whole new way of life.
  10. I am 5 days post op and not full liquids yet. But I think you may need more protein, cottage cheese, liquid yogurt, egg custard, sf pudding. I am looking forward to trying these next week. Your diet was my 2 week pre-op and protein shakes are not settling well with me. I found a recipe for full liquids on this thread and it's cottage cheese and tomato sauce in a ramakin. Taste like lasagna, sounds good right now. Hang in there & keep me posted.
  11. Looking forward to cottage cheese and spaghetti sauce. I start full liquids Monday, I can try this right?
  12. I am 5 days post op and can hardly get in my liquids. I am not hungry but am ready for Monday for full liquids.
  13. I woke up day 4 of my pre-op liquid diet with my jaw and teeth hurting. This sucks, I have never done anything like this and my body and mind must be tripping not chewing. Sleeping with a mouth guard and keeping my tongue on the roof of my mouth to not clinch my teeth. Anyone one else experience this?
  14. I'm 4 days into my 14 day pre-op diet. The first 3 days sucked, but today is much better. 8:00 am Had carnation instant breakfast packet mixed with milk and added some instant coffee. 10:00 had bottled carnation instant breakfast. Around noon tried muscle milk vanilla cream, yuk could not drink it. 1:00 mixed syntrax nectar lemon tea and I could drink some of it but drinking tea that looks chocolate, weird. 6:00 had healthy choice tomato soup low fat and low carb. 7:00 a cup of broth, 1 Popsicle and now drinking syntrax nectar chocolate truffle with skim milk and blended with ice cube of coffee. I am full and pray to sleep good tonight. It is getting easier. We all can do this!
  15. Thanks, you are so sweet. I was thinking, since I am a cash patient I don't have to go through counseling etc. I am getting support here and having alot of emotions going on.
  16. My papers say nothing about not smoking, but I will reread to double check. To be realistic I really doubt all sleevers are non smokers or could quit smoking and start liquid pre-op diet at the same time. Many of smokers have surgery every day. I am not worried about 3 cigs to get me threw.
  17. I am still pre-op but read that the 1st phase of south beach is great for sleevers after you can eat solid again. I would think soup, cottage cheese, applesauce, mashed potatoes, yogurt and sure there are more options til u can eat solid.
  18. Ok started my 1st day of my 2 week of liquids and I was not prepared. Went to the store and have everything now and will get started tomorrow. Gosh I could do a low carb for 2 weeks, but this is going to be a huge struggle for me. Need prayer please, thanks everyone!
  19. Awesome idea, I am going to pull out my parents china and use it. Thanks bunches!
