Nausea And Lethargy

Recommended Posts

I'm now hitting the 7 week post op mark and for the past few days and i'm not feeling so great about food. First of all i have always been a food lover. I love(d) to eat and try new foods and now it is actually a chore to eat. It takes me about 30 mins to finish Breakfast which is usually a kabipro Protein Shake and then another 15 mins to get the courage to swallow my gallstone medication and then my glucophage which i take for insulin resistance. After all that i feel so drained of energy i've actually been going back to bed and then starting my working day at 11.00am. To top that off i keep feel nauseous. Is anyone else suffering from these symptoms? Any clue on what might be causing them? Tomorrow i'm going to try taking my glucophage after lunch instead maybe the dosage of medication i'm taking is too high for the number of calories consumed.

It could be from taking your meds with only liquids. I know if I take ANY meds without something mushy or semi-solid that I will be nauseous as soon as the medication hits the bottom of my stomach. Our new stomachs have a narrow curve at the bottom now so pills tend to sit there as they dissolve and it can irritate the stomach lining quite a bit if they are sitting on bare tummy. Try taking them with something solid or yogurt or pudding at the very least so that the pills can dissolve in the food and not directly on the stomach lining before passing into the pylorus.

Thanks for that. I'm going to try to have my medication with food tomorrow and see how it goes.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
