Usually I get full fast with 2-3oz of food. Today I have been eating every 2-3 hours non stop

Since this morning. I tried my acid meds and drinking Water. The only thing that calms my stomach is food. What's wrong??

Nothing's wrong! You're probably just hungry! Since my surgery in January, I get hungry every 2 hours like clockwork. Frustrated, I asked the doctor about it, since I thought I'd never be hungry again after the surgery. He said in a small number of cases people just go the other way and get hungry all the time. (yay, me.) Meanwhile, I was on an acid reducer so it wasn't acid. It stands to reason that we would get hungry when we're eating such small amounts. I will say this, though... I've learned that sometimes when I feel hungry it's just stomach irritation. If I've just eaten and feel hungry, I know it's not hunger again. So now if I'm really hungry I drink a small amount of ice Water. If I can feel the cold in my stomach, I know I'm empty. If I don't feel it, I know it's something else and I just ignore it for awhile and it goes away. Don't panic! It's no big deal.

I'm one of the unlucky ones who still feels a good deal of hunger. I too take the acid medicine, which helps minimally. Just plain hungry. Good news is the hunger doesn't do much harm when all it takes is a quarter cup to shut it up! I just make sure the quarter cup is low fat, low carb Protein.< /p>

I am 4 weeks out today!!! I get hungry about every two hours...I don't think it is real hunger. I have found that the low fat, high Protein will stay with me for a long while, whereas veges or potatoes don't. Also, I try to drink a Protein Drink sometime in the morning. Usually, I make like a frappe: coffee, Protein Powder, ice, ff milk, splenda, and cinnamon. My GF who had the surgery 6 months ago says she always thinks to herself, the sleeve is my tool; I will use it. I just now get what she means, or I think I do. Meaning, do whatever diet you have to, to ensure wl, whether low carb, WeightWatchers, or whatever, and let your sleeve be the tool that keeps you on that diet. I wish everyone the best of luck on their weightloss journey, and can't wait to join the ranks of the under 200....Oh, I dream of that moment. I see some of you are almost there...WTG....

I get the hunger too and it's definitely not head hunger. I'm on prescription Prilosec too but that doesn't help. I asked my doc about it and he said it was plain old physical hunger. I will just have a small healthy snack to stave it off but because of it I eat about six times a day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
