Just What I Didn't Want... Infected Incision

Recommended Posts

I am a little over 3 weeks post op. My incision that is right above my belly button( the one that is horizontal, not the long vertical one). Half of it will Not heal! It is still open & is getting infected. It will not heal. I have an appointment Friday with my surgeon... To see what he thinks. Anyone else had this to happen??

I had an infected incision around 2/3weeks it was extremely painful more so than having the operation it's self, I was admitted back into hospital where I spent a over a week on IV antibiotics and lots and lots of very strong pain relief after being discharge I continued on oral antibiotics for another week or so not a nice experience, 2 months post op now n doing great very happy with my progress.

I'm sending you a lot of healing energy your way. Hope it's minor and doesn't require you to go into the hospital. ;)

I'm dealing with it now. I'm 16 days post op and it started about 3 weeks ago. It's hot red and hard. Doctor started me on antibiotics and if not better by Friday he will open in up and drain it. So I bent over to pick something up and it started draining all over. Yuck!!! I pray it gets better for both of us!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
