Mine was 100% health, but I was extremely excited about the sexiness factor that was going to come along with that new health. I was on 21 meds, a nervous wreck, in excruciating pain and very often confined to the bed or a wheel chair. Now I am off 19 of the meds, much more calm and my fibromyalgia is in "remission?". I have not had to take to the bed in over two months and I no longer walk with a cane. But to go along with that, I must say, I have gone from Shot Mama to Hot Mama. I may not have had my surgery based on vanity, but I am enjoying the vanity of improved looks just as much as the next gal...maybe even more

I have gone from Shot Mama to Hot Mama.

Love it! That alone makes it worthwhile, doesn't it?

When I was sleeved I would probably have said that it was 100% vanity, I wanted to be "normal", "fit in" be "attractive", etc. etc. I think I was in complete denial of my health, I had spent so many years defending my fatness, claiming that it had zero effect on my health but now, 125 lbs later and a regular gym goer, I can see the untruth of it. My blood pressure was high, although I wasn't on meds. I was never comfortable, ever, not even reclining in bed, and everything was difficult. Just attempting to tie my shoes or wash my hair would depress and exhaust me.

So, in hindsight, it should have been at least 50-50%.

I still have 40 lbs to goal though and although I really do want to get strong, these last 40 -plus eventual plastics- are all about vanity so, give it 80-20% currently.

Mine was 90% vanity, I use to weigh 135 and measurements were 37-26-37, and 10% everything else. I have no health issues to speak of and no emotional issues so vanity was the motivation for my surgery.

55% health

30% vanity

15% other advantages of being smaller such as job seeking, activities, etc.

Hmmmm good question.

50% - Tho going into it I did not have any regular health issues, constant sporting injuries, PCOS but was only a stones throw away from having diabetes, heart disease all those fun things.

50% - Lifestyle, Emotional, Vanity. I wanted a life that was large, full of life, love, confidence and happiness. While I was doing alot of things as a big person, it was not the kind of life I wanted. The weight literally weighed me down.

100% health . I have suffered the "slings and arrows of outrageous" life of a morbidly obese human for my entire life. I was always proud that in spite of it I was healthy and strong and then I got older... the past 15 years have been rough - high blood pressure, foot rebuilt, 3 knee replacements, carpal tunnel release. It's like I hit 40 and *BLAM* down I went. And I could NOT lose weight. I'm sure being obese has held me back professionaly and in my personal life but I, most of the time, didn't let it stop me. Now I was being forced to stop.

I think that I am going to find that although my motives are for health that this weight loss journey is going to impact the whole of me - physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

Bring it on!

I think I was 60% health and 40% vanity. I recently was put on bp meds. Cholestrol & diabetes were just around the corner. I missed feeling healthy and sexy!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
